Brittney Griner is finally back on American Soil after being detained for 294 days in Russia. Her return has been possible because of the Joe Biden Administration. As President Biden got her back in a prisoner swap deal with Russia. The former President of the United States of America, Donald Trump though isn’t a fan of this exchange which got Brittney Griner released.
Donald Trump has always been opposing this exchange and has even called out Brittney Griner to be responsible for her detainment as she smuggled drugs. But the WNBA superstar didn’t do that intentionally and even had medical prescriptions for it as she said during a trial.
Fans even claimed her to be a “political prisoner” amid Russia’s war against Ukraine. The Biden Administration even made claims about Brittney Griner being “wrongfully detained” in the past. But Donald Trump never switched and is still sticking with his take.
Trump has already labeled Brittney Griner as an “America hating Basketball player” and isn’t a fan of the exchange where, “Merchant of Death,” Viktor Bout was given away. He called out the prisoner swap as “crazy and bad” since the Biden Administration didn’t even get former Marine, Paul Whelan back.

Donald Trump’s take on Brittney Griner’s prisoner swap deal for Viktor Bout
Donald Trump speaking with Julia Mueller of The Hill said: “The deal for Griner is crazy and bad. The taking wouldn’t have even happened during my Administration, but if it did, I would have gotten her out, fast!” Trump didn’t just throw shade at the trade but also claimed to get her out without waiting for 10 months if he was in power.
On Truth Social, he also mentioned turning down a deal which could have landed Paul Whelan back only because of Viktor Bout. So him hating the Brittney Griner exchange is understandable. He said: “I turned down a deal with Russia for a one on one swap of the so-called Merchant of Death for Paul Whelan. I wouldn’t have made the deal for a hundred people in exchange for someone that has killed untold numbers of people with his arms deals.”
Donald Trump maybe is pleased with Brittney Griner being back home but isn’t riding with the exchange that was dealt with Russia. As they had to give away Viktor Bout who is responsible for a lot of crimes and even today is a threat on an international level.
