“Could be a great-offensive-hand to KD” Brooklyn Nets in ‘advanced discussions’ to acquire Lakers’ champion
Marc Stein on Markieff Morris
The dust around Brooklyn Nets has settled, after 2 months. They will have both their megastars playing for them in the 2023 season, and can finally have their “Big-3” playing together in a game. Now The Brooklyn Nets are looking to add quality players to their roster. Many talented free agents are still available in the market, while the Nets would be looking to add a “fitting” piece to their roster. According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Brooklyn Nets have looked into acquiring former LA Lakers forward Markieff Morris as a free agent signing.
He also reported that the Nets are in advanced talks with the forward. Stein said, “The Nets have moved into advanced discussions with free agent forward Markieff Morris as Brooklyn seeks to bolster its frontcourt, league sources say.”
Markieff Morris was part of the LA Lakers roster that won the championship in 2019-20. In 2022, Morris played for Miami Heat, but his altercation with Nuggets star Nikola Jokic made more news than his plays. He also missed much of the season after that incident and played in just 3 minutes in the postseason games.
A 15-year veteran played in only 17 games last year and averaged 7.6 points per game. But he was seen as efficient from the field, shooting around 47% from the field.
Brooklyn Nets are preparing for a strong push in the 2023 NBA season.
The Brooklyn franchise has never won an NBA title and nerve considered close enough to 2022. They had the perfect team to make their NBA finals appearance in 2 decades. But the Celtics team wrap up the opening series in just 4 games casting doubts over their megastar, still believing in the quality they have, the Nets are sticking with their superstar duo. Also with the availability of mid-season acquisition, Ben Simmons, the Nets are all set to unleash their newest Big 3. Ben Simmons, Kevin Durant, and Kyrie Irving will step on the court together for the first time.

The franchise also has immense firepower with sharpshooters like Seth Curry, Joe Harris, and Patty Mills. However, their defense is in dire need of strengthening. Former Rookie of the year winner, Simmons, is arguably one of the best defenders in the league and will undoubtedly improve their defense. The addition of Royce O’Neale will also likely improve their defense.
Now Nets would love to strengthen in Size, where they have the option of former Lakes center Dwight Howard, and also Morris, who could play at the PF position for the second unit. Anyhow, despite losing so early in last season’s playoffs, the Nets still hold a slight upper hand in the 2023 Championship race. The Nets have some serious firepower on their roster, and defensively they might have value addition pieces through the rich pool of talent available in the free agency.
