The former Phoenix Suns player spoke about his love for the sport of basketball in a 1995 interview. This was after the came extremely close to winning a title and won the league MVP in 1993. The legend was unafraid and unapologetic about his response to people who criticised him back then.

He said, “I just love playing basketball. You know people can think what they want. They can think bad things about me, Yeah I’ve done somethings wrong but that just makes me human. But no one can ever say that I don’t just love to play basketball.”

Charles Barkley certainly was not the best character wise as he often fought with his peers or even brawled with strangers at a bar. But there is a reason why he is named among the top 75 players of all time. Chuckster was a very versatile scorer and defended the ball at a very high level. But it was not his fault that Michael Jordan existed.

The one accolade missing from his resume is an NBA title. Fans have often trolled him for it. The Hall of Famer led the Sun to the 1993 Finals against the Chicago Bulls. But Jordan happened to be on his hot streak averaging 41 points per game during that series.

Since then, Charles Barkley has expressed how he has come to peace with it. The legend currently spends his time as an analyst with hit show NBA on TNT where he amassed a large following with his extremely hilarious character.
