Charles Barkley and Klay Thompson

Klay Thompson seems like a shadow of his former self after not being able to make a lot of contributions to the team’s efforts in the regular season. In the game against Phoenix Suns which saw the Golden State Warriors get thrashed 134-105, he was handed his first-ever NBA ejection which came as a result of a brush-up against Devin Booker. This was a major setback for both the Warriors.

Speaking on the matter Charles Barkley warned the Warriors, “There was a time when Klay Thompson was the best two-way guard in the NBA, and he’s not the same guy.” Chuck said a potential cold dose of reality on the situation Thompson finds himself in. “And that’s because of injuries. Now, is he done? No, I don’t think he’s done. I think he’s slowing down and it’s catching up with him. That’s why he’s frustrated.”

Apart from the splash brother, Draymond Green also managed to make it to Barkley’s crosshairs who too was handed a harsh reality check. Green, according to the legend is slowing down at this point in his career, putting even more pressure on 2022 NBA Finals MVP Stephen Curry and the team’s young, high-paid players.

Curry’s splash brother Klay Thompson also struggled as he only managed to score 2 points in the entire game. After the game, coach Steve Kerr stated that he feels Thompson’s outburst was motivated by his dissatisfaction with his minute’s limitation, which stemmed from his continued recovery from the serious injuries that missed him two full seasons from 2019 to ’21.

Thompson has had a rough start to the 2022-23 season, scoring a career-low 11 points per game and shooting 28.6% from three-point range. Thompson scored two points on 1-of-8 shooting and was 0-for-5 from three in the 19 minutes that he played on Tuesday.
