When you are a celebrity and a well-known personality in any world – sports, entertainment, and/or politics; you got to stay connected with your fans and followers. Social media made it easy for today’s generation as icons stay connected “virtually” with everybody. But t might amuse many that Hall of Famer and “Inside the NBA” analyst Charles Barkley doesn’t have any social media accounts on platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok. Charles was never a fan of social media, and in that case any sort of technology too. However, very recently big man was caught trying to make a TikTok video with help of a fan.
Barkley was on vacation and sitting in a bar. The Incident occurred when a lady fan approached him and asked to take a video. Not so tech-savvy Chuck struggled with the video and rather asked for a selfie with the fan. The fan, who happens to be a Canadian actress Marika Bouchard, obliged as the two made a selfie video to post on TikTok. Check out the whole incident,
Barkley made his state loud and clear as he said, “Hey, how do I make this work for me? I want both of us to be in it. Hey, I want both of us to be in it. This is a TikTok? I wanna do a TikTok; we’re both in it.”

Former MVP Charles Barkley was good with control over the Board – on the basketball court of course but has been equally bad with any sort o technology. Back in 2016, Charles Barkley was tasked with using a touch screen monitor on the CBS Selection Sunday show. The technology failed him. (Or perhaps it was vice versa.)
Similarly, In 2018, Charles Barkley gave out some details about his new learning as he just got his first iPhone and was going through FaceTime, but was still resistant to technology. Very recently Barkley was given a technology quiz by the former chief executive officer of Microsoft, Steve Ballmer, owner of the Los Angeles Clippers, and on Inside the NBA. Well, you might have guessed how it went with Chuck then.
In the current video situation, Chuck was on vacation after covering conference finals. And we got a glimpse of his attempt with TikTok Video. Interestingly though, Barkley doesn’t have any social media account and is still able to entertain people, as he has many viral entertaining moments from his shows, and games.
During a March Madness broadcast last year, the 11-time All-Star explained why he would never have a social media account. Barkley defended Ohio State’s EJ Liddell, who received nasty messages and comments after their loss to Oral Roberts. He called the people online who attacked Liddell losers. That’s the main reason why Chuck would not join any social media platform.
Barkley explained, “You guys give me a hard time because I refuse to do any type of social media, this is the reason why. No. 1, he had a great game, but for you to give this kid death threats and hurl racial slurs at him. Because you’re safe in your own home like a coward, behind a computer and nobody know who you are, you need to take a hard look at yourself in the mirror.”
He added, “I am never gonna dignify these losers and interact with them ever. I don’t care how much money somebody offers me, I’ll never do social media because of this.” We love Charles as he is and great to have fun with simplicity. Well, a bit of technology use wouldn’t hurt though Chuck.
