“I’m not feeling comfortable,” Charles Barkley revealed his discomfort on witnessing Isaiah Thomas cry over his sister

After his career as a Houston Rockets player ended in 2000, Charles Barkley immediately began working as an NBA analyst. He collaborated on “Inside the NBA” with former Rockets Kenny “The Jet” Smith and Ernie Johnson, and he has been a part of the program for well over two decades. Despite being recognized for its jokes and antics, the program occasionally has to deal with highly delicate subjects.

One of these instances occurred just before the Boston Celtics and Chicago Bulls matchup in the 2017 NBA Playoffs after Isaiah Thomas lost his sister Chyna. Thomas was observed crying on the bench before the first game between the Bulls and the Celtics, with just his colleague Avery Bradley comforting him in the mostly empty arena. The controversy about whether or not he ought to have even played that game was sparked when this clip went viral.

Speaking on the matter Charles Barkley said, “I’m not feeling comfortable with him sitting on the sidelines crying like that. That makes me uncomfortable, so that tells me he’s not in shape to play. I mean, I don’t know how this night is going to turn out but to be sitting on the sideline, a few minutes before the game, crying, that makes me uncomfortable for him.”

Isaiah Thomas’ NBA career got off to an unusual start when the Sacramento Kings selected him with the final choice of the 2011 draught. Although he was chosen 60th overall, his talent was evident almost away, and he played his way into the rotation before being nominated to an All-NBA rookie team in 2012.

The five-foot-nine guard joined the Phoenix Suns in a sign-and-trade in July 2014 after establishing himself in Sacramento. Thomas struggled to fit in as he engaged in a minute-long battle with skilled ball handlers Goran Dragic, Brandon Knight, and Eric Bledsoe. The front office was eventually forced to make a decision due to the overabundance of guards, and Thomas was moved to the Celtics in February 2015.

The Washington native reached his peak in the league with the Boston Celtics. Thomas was recognized as an All-Star and an All-NBA player in 2016 after averaging 28.9 points and 5.9 assists per game. He also guided the team to its first Eastern Conference Finals appearance since 2008, a conference-best 1st seed, and a performance of 53 points against the Washington Wizards in the second round.
