Brooklyn Nets have majorly struggled on both ends of the court in the first-round series against the Boston Celtics. With Kevin Durant having to endure majority of the criticism and blame, Charles Barkley becomes the latest to launch a rant on him. The former MVP was condemned as a ‘bus rider’ by Barkley while discussing his easy championship runs with Golden State Warriors in the previous decade.

Brooklyn Nets struggles against Boston Celtics raised many questions over the legacy of their marquee scorer Kevin Durant. His production in the postseason has hit an all-time low and the team is on the verge of very early and unexpected elimination from the 2022 playoffs. Majority of fanatics expected A-level leadership from the Nets’ sharpshooter KD, but he failed to live up to those expectations and now is the subject of massive criticism.
Charles Barkley took a shot at 2-time finals MVP Durant, when he said, “All these bus riders, they don’t mean nothing to me. If you ain’t driving the Bus, don’t walk around and tell that you are a Champion.” But Kenny Smith showed his support to KD, claiming that the Warriors’ team was talented, but still, Kevin managed to win titles and was named MVP on both occasions, hinting that he was Dubs’ best player in those runs. But Chuck still feels otherwise as he said, “He got MVP. He wasn’t the best player. Iguodala wasn’t the best player, he got MVP.”
Kevin Durant’s championship spree with Golden State Warriors

Durant has had a very illustrious career in NBA. Coming into the league as 2nd overall pick in the 2007 draft, Kevin Durant excelled with the Oklahoma City Thunder. The 2008 Rookie of The Year averaged 20.3 points per season in his 1st year, only the third professional to do so. In 2008 he had found a new offensive partner in Russell Westbrook, forming a lethal young duo at OKC.

They managed to reach the 2012 NBA finals but failed to overcome the heavily loaded Miami Heat. The team’s poor show in later years forced Slim Reaper to join hands with the very talented Golden State Warriors in pursuit of his maiden NBA title. The move was heavily criticized and particularly KD was targeted for being “selfish” for the Championship, by some sections of modern-day fans.

Nevertheless, he proved himself in the BA Area, winning multiple NBA Championships and NBA finals MVP Awards in 2017 and 2018. Though he had the championship and the MVP awards to prove his worth in a star-studded team, KD decided to make a super-team of his own and leave his mark on NBA for good. Which is primarily the reason he chose to join the Nets alongside Kyrie Irving.
As mentioned above, as Kevin Durant moved to Brooklyn Nets and pledged to bring glory to a team that never won an NBA title. Adding Kyrie Irving and experienced veterans gave them an advantage, making them the favorites in the title discussions. But reality hit Durant hard as the Nets failed to deliver with the star duo. They were eliminated in the conference Semifinal against eventual winners Milwaukee Bucks, with KD playing his 1st playoff with the Nets team.
The second run at the championship also seems a bit shaky as the Nets are down 0-3 in the series and with Boston riding high on their defenses, it is quite possible that the Nets will get eliminated sooner than expected.
