“He’s little as hell” Chet Holmgren sends stern warning to rest of NBA after emphatic Summer League Debut
Chet Holmgren
When the Oklahoma City Thunder selected Chet Holmgren with the No. 2 overall pick, no one knew what to expect out of him. Due to Holmgren’s slanderous nature, there have been many people who argue against him being one of the top prospects when the 2022 NBA Draft was drawing near. Experts had doubts and still do about the 7’1″, 196-pound Gonzaga player’s ability to succeed in the NBA as he did in college. When Holmgren, 20, made his Summer League debut on Wednesday with Australian Josh Giddey, the NBA world went bonkers.
The big man scored 13 points in the first nine minutes of the first quarter, hitting 3-of-4 from beyond the arc with efficiency. With a final tally of 23 points, including 4-of-6 from three-point range and a flawless 5-of-5 at the charity stripe, Holmgren helped Oklahoma City defeat Utah by a score of 98-77. Additionally, he blocked six shots, which is a new summer league record.
Chet Holmgren- The Durant and Nowitzki hybrid!
Chet Holmgren has the potential to be a tremendous athlete, despite the fact that many NBA talent scouts and evaluators continue to doubt his capabilities at the next level. After just one season at Texas, scouts recently compared Holmgren’s play to that of Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant and former Dallas Mavericks great Dirk Nowitzki. However, other people are sceptical about his impact moving forward. Holmgren, who is listed at 7 feet and 1 inch tall and 196 pounds, stands out due to his lean build, and many people are unsure about his ability to gain weight in the future.
At Gonzaga, Chet Holmgren only appeared in one season of collegiate basketball. He was an All-American and the defensive player of the year in the West Coast Conference. The forward/center from Minneapolis shot 60.7 percent from the field and 39 percent from three-point range for averages of 14.1 points, 9.9 rebounds, 3.6 blocks, and 1.9 assists per game. The Oklahoma City Thunder, with all of its fresh talent, would most likely not regret selecting him with their second pick since he is the ideal big man for an NBA franchise. His Summer League debut is really a preview for the great things OKC has in store.
The Thunder to rely on Holmgren for playoff picture?
The Thunder may seek the Play-ins in the upcoming season after a 24-58 regular season, at least now that they have another star player to back Shai. Fans of the Thunder will point to this one Summer League game as proof that they selected a future MVP, while supporters of the Magic will argue that one Summer League game is nothing. Josh Giddey, OKC’s 6th pick from the previous year, was called up for Summer League action after shining in the NBA last year. He appeared completely in charge as he scored 14 points, 11 assists, and five rebounds.
Chet Holmgren was going full on power as the Thunder took down Utah Jazz at Salt Lake city on Tuesday night. Holmgren was bullying Utah and at a timeout, he referred to Vic Law of the Jazz “little as hell”, after he scored a turnaround jumper against him. With his and OKC’s Summer League debut on Tuesday, Holmgren demonstrated why he is the most talented prospect in this draft and has the ability to alter the trajectory of his team.
