“They are simply better offensively and defensively, it is visible via the eye test” Chris Broussard believes Boston Celtics can only lose EC Final if they beat themselves up

Chris Broussard on Boston Celtics

Chris Broussard was more than satisfied with Boston Celtics’ game-2 win over Miami Heat. He even said that it is Celtics who can beat themselves as Miami can’t do it, especially with efficiency by all the players on both ends of the court.

Overall team performances and resurgence of the “trio of Boston Celtics” made game 2 a treat to watch for the away fans. Though the game was played in FTX Arena, it was the “Green Army” making more noise as their team dominated the proceedings in the game. Analysts and writers were divided over the possible winner of the series, but Chris Broussard now looks happy and firm on his prediction – siding the young Celtics team in the EC finals.

Broussard, controlling his joy over the result said about Boston that, they are simply better offensively and defensively. He backed up his prediction, “Celtics in 6” giving Miami a chance in 1 more game during the series.

Just before the All-Star game, there were doubts over the Celtics’ young core, which have been together for several seasons together and was unable to clear the Conference to challenge for the Larry O’Brien trophy. Many suggested that they shall make changes in the roster itself to give them some legitimate chance in the postseason as they were struggling to make it into the playoff during that period of time.

But one of the most successful franchise in the NBA kept faith in their players, and they raced to the 2nd position in the East, shutting down opponents defensively. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown were offensively effective and even helped their team defensively. In the postseason too, the Celtics were against two of the big teams from the East – Heavy favorite Brooklyn Nets and defending Champions Milwaukee Bucks.

But delivering a killer blow to the Nets and winning hard-fought 7-game series against Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks suddenly made them one of the favorites for the title. Competing against the top seed Miami Heat, Broussard was backing Boston Celtics to clinch the Eastern Conference trophy and advance to the NBA Finals.

Celtics’ Game 2 win made the picture a bit clearer for people as they controlled the game from the 1st quarter. Chris made his views about the series clear in the post-game analysis as he said, “Celtics are going to win this series, they are better on paper, the talent at the top is in Boston’s way. They are better offensively, better defensively, better via the eye test.”

He compared the player’s draft picks on both teams and pointed out that Boston edged Miami out in that department. Chris went on to predict that this could be the easiest series for the Celtics who negated KD-Kyrie in 1st round, Giannis-Jrue in 2ndround and now only faces a challenge from Jimmy Butler – the sole threat from the Heat team.

Statistically, the Celtics had a 2-1 regular season series record in 2022 against Miami. Age-wise they are a younger team and do have some of the top picks playing in the team. Defensively too, the Celtics had the best record in NBA this regular season, while ranked above Miami in offense too.

The next game will be played at TD Garden on Saturday night, and charged-up Celtics fans can motivate the team to take a healthy lead in the series. It will be a great opportunity for Boston to avenge their 2020 Conference Finals loss if they continue to dictate the series as they did in game 2.
