“He is doing what we’re accustomed to seeing him do”: CJ McCollum appreciates Stephen Curry after his two-way efforts helps the Warriors equalize the Final series vs Celtics

Stephen Curry and CJ McCollum

CJ McCollum was a real one as he appreciated Stephen Curry for his greats during the 2022 NBA Finals so far. The Chef has really been cooking the Jayson Tatum-led Boston Celtics but unfortunately fell on the losing end in Game 1. But the Dubs were back in Game 2 and had revenge on their mind and got the job done. Stephen Curry was a perfect leader in both the games and he even delivered a perfect two-way role. CJ McCollum correctly gave the Chef his flowers for his greats as he discussed the Finals run of the Golden State Warriors so far on ESPN’s Get Up and how the Chef has been throughout the time as he joined the elite list of players like Shaquille O’Neal and LeBron James after the Warriors manhandled the Celtics in Game 2.

The Golden State Warriors hosted the Boston Celtics for Game 2 of the NBA Finals at Chase Center. It was a very important game for both the teams as the Celtics wanted a 2-0 lead and the Dubs wanted to even it at 1-1 and they got it done as they got the dub. The Golden State Warriors were out for revenge and showcasing their defensive and offensive greats against the young Celtics team who were just speechless watching it all go south. The game was closely contested and head to head until halftime. But the Stephen Curry-led Golden State Warriors took over as soon as the third quarter started and eventually won the game. The final box score stands at 107-88 favoring the Golden State Warriors an 19 points embarrassing blowout loss for the Celtics. CJ McCollum wasn’t shocked spectating the offensive rally of Stephen Curry as he took control over anything and everything he can in the game. As in the post-game segment of ESPN’s Get Up the Pelicans’ star had nothing but appreciation for the Chef.

CJ McCollum when questioned about Stephen Curry and his run so far in the 2022 NBA Finals quoted: “I think he is being his typical self. You know scoring in transition, getting offensive rebounds, and kick-out threes. He’s able to make and play pick and roll… getting to the basket. He is doing what we’re accustomed to seeing him do and that’s why he is the two times MVP. But I think this series will be won by the role players.” CJ McCollum though didn’t stop here and further even discussed the matchup and player more clearly.

CJ McCollum after appreciating Stephen Curry and breaking out why Klay Thompson is struggling in the Finals and how can it cost the Warriors a championship quoted: “To be honest with you I have the Celtics winning the series more so because of the way they have been playing defensively and offensively.” After this take by the Pelicans’ star, JJ Redick announced him as a Warriors hater for the rest of his life.

Even JJ Redick partially agreed with CJ McCollum’s take as the role players are the only hope for both the teams to get their hands on the championship. Further, they also talked about the changes the team made from Game 1 to Game 2 and how the series now stands tied while the next two games will be at TD Garden, the Boston Celtics’ home arena.
