Clippers’ Paul George and Kawhi Leonard reported to be out until December
Paul George and Kawhi Leonard
Paul George and Kawhi Leonard are back in the NBA headlines and the reason is very unfortunate. As the duo which was supposed to carry the Clippers to multiple titles is once again down, injured and unfit to suit up. The Clippers brought in John Wall and many other good pieces they wanted around Kawhi Leonard and Paul George so the team can be a contender and win it all.
The Los Angeles Clippers even achieved that feat and were discussed as solid contenders even before the season started. But to live with the same hype you have to ball out and for that everyone on the team, especially the superstars have to be healthy and ready. And, unfortunately, that’s not been the case for Kawhi Leonard and Paul George since 2019 itself. The duo has been very disappointing as it has never stayed healthy together to lead the team ahead in the run for the title.
Kawhi Leonard missed the entire 2021-22 season after suffering a torn ACL in the 2021 playoffs. He returned with the team this year only to suit up for 5 out of the 19 games played so far. As his surgically repaired knee isn’t completely fine yet and he was suffering from stiffness which sidelined him for 12 straight games. And, then he got his ankle sprained against Utah Jazz.
The story of Paul George has also been very same but a bit better. As the Los Angeles Clippers were able to utilize him way more than Klaw has ever been available for them. But the duo is now once again out due to injuries and has no timetable for return as said by Head Coach Ty Lue himself before the Warriors destroyed the shorthanded Clippers.
A report by Law Murray of The Athletic revealed Paul George and Kawhi Leonard to be out for Black Friday’s game against the Nuggets. The author also mentioned how the duo can stay out until December. As he wrote: “Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, Luke Kennard, and the Ontario trio are out vs Nuggets. Wouldn’t be surprised if the injured Clippers are done until December.” The report seems very correct, especially after Tyronn Lue’s announcement regarding their unscheduled return.
Can Kawhi Leonard and Paul George carry the Clippers across?
The Los Angeles Clippers haven’t seen any big success since they brought in the duo of Paul George and Kawhi Leonard. But both the players are surely capable of carrying the team across. And, the only reason they aren’t doing so is the injuries that are limiting them on the court. Right now, Kawhi Leonard is out due to an ankle sprain. While Paul George who earlier this season missed only one game due to medical illness is sidelined with a hamstring injury.
In the absence of Paul George and Kawhi Leonard, it would be necessary for the young guns of the Clippers to take over and get some wins. So the pressure on the superstar duo is less whenever they return back to ball out. John Wall would have to lead the leadership end as a veteran and make sure everyone is involved and the team is able to play some winning basketball.
