“We’re not a track team, we are NOT running away from people” Coach Ime Udoka believes Boston Celtics are not afraid to face any team

How remarkable it is to witness the rise of one particular so drastically in the same season. From a point where fans eagerly wanted to break the duoship of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown to hailing their dominance over the Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving consisting Brooklyn Nets. There is no denying that majority of the credit goes to coach Ime Udoka, who feels that his team are not running away from anyone.
When asked about the playoff scenario, Ime Udoka stated that his Boston Celtis side are a basketball team rather than being a track team and are not running away from people after their clean sweep over the Brooklyn Nets.
“We’re a basketball team, not a track team. We’re not running from people.”
The rise of Boston Celtics under Ime Udoka
To those who are not aware of the stats the Celtics were 23-24 till January 21, when fans raised major questions about the young duo leading the side and whether or not Tatum and Brown have the perfect match to lead the side. That was the very moment which triggered the entire team and coach Ime Udoka. Because after that, the Celtics went onto register a 28-7 record to finish second seed in the Eastern Conference Standings.
Although Celtics had the toughest first-round competitors, who had knocked them out last time around. Yet Udoka urged Tatum, Smart and other members to play with full freedom game-after-game. The result speaks volumes about the trust of the coach in his players and vice-versa.
Also, the Celtics have used their veteran bench players to their full potential. The likes of Derrick White and Daniel Theis have made huge difference in the team and have contributed in each game, despite having plenty of competition to retain their own place in the roster.
But that being said Ime Udoka, Celtics will eagerly be watching Game 5 of Bulls vs Bucks to witness who their semi-final opponents are going to be. If it is the Milwaukee Bucks, will we see Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jrue Holiday being stopped by the Boston Celtics once again? Remains to be seen.
