“LeBron does it, KD does it, Steph does it, that’s the NBA model” Colin Cowherd believes Luka Doncic has to get on the phone and recruit his own teammates

“LeBron does it, KD does it, Steph does it, that’s the NBA model” Colin Cowherd believes Luka Doncic has to get on the phone and recruit his own teammates

Luka Doncic and Colin Cowherd

Colin Cowherd has made it to the NBA headlines once again as he suggests Luka Doncic to pick up his phone and start recruiting players as he thinks that is NBA’s model and it’s high time for the Mavericks to bring in some help. Luka Doncic is seen helpless many times during the match-up as the team is currently having no other star or even a young gun to rely on except Jalen Brunson but he isn’t consistent. They are also a small-sized team since the departure of Kristaps Porzingis to the Washington Wizards. All these factors have the young all-star alone and struggling as the team is down 0-2 to the Phoenix Suns. So Colin Cowherd’s new take where he compares James and the Mavs star makes sense.

Colin Cowherd comparing James Harden and Luka Doncic quoted: “It was about five years ago, in his prime, that we were saying James Harden was better than Kobe. Analytically, he was the greatest, most-efficient scoring guard of all time. But there was a truth serum about James Harden, that he had the ball in his hands so often and he initiated so much contact he was exhausted by the end of games, he was a defensive liability. Is Luka Doncic just becoming the Dallas version, the bigger version, of James Harden?” Colin Cowherd also mentioned how both the players are defensive liability and have some common traits like being out of shape and not that athletic.

James Harden and Luka Doncic are two totally different but similar players as they run the game while getting everyone involved but have the ball with them for most of the time. So scoring big numbers becomes an easy job for them. Colin Cowherd threw light on the fact of them running the ball game and having it for most of the time and then also mentioned how Luka Doncic is a defensive liability as he quoted: “Chris Paul went after Luka 50 times as the screen defender. They were seeking him out. That’s what teams did to James Harden.” He also mentioned how he needs to start recruiting and improve his franchise as soon as possible or else it will be nothing but a waste of all these talents.

Colin Cowherd on Luka Doncic to start recruiting stars to Dallas Mavericks

Colin Cowherd started with showing out the potential and star power other teams in the western conference have brought in throughout the years and it has all been possible with their main guy recruiting others. Further, he quoted: “Getting on a phone and recruiting a player. LeBron does it, KD does it, Steph does it and that’s the NBA model. Now, international players, Dirk didn’t wanna do it and Luka Doncic didn’t wanna do it. Sometimes international players are not comfortable doing it. But that’s what Kawhi did with Paul George and Kawhi don’t even talk…”

Colin Cowherd is not at all wrong with his take. As honestly many teams around the Mavs in the race have at least two-star powers on their roster. While the Mavericks have only Luka Doncic around whom everything is based and revolves. So some recruitment is really necessary and it’s high time for their General Manager to get the job done or for Luka Doncic to get on a phone and try recruiting the best guy out there he thinks can fit in the squad to dominate the league and run the show playing alongside him. The Dallas Mavericks as of now are struggling with their leader single-handedly carrying them against the Phoenix Suns in the western conference semi-finals.
