Kevin Durant may be in one of his most awkward and frustrating situations right now. The player made a huge decision after he left the Golden State Warriors to work along with his current team the Brooklyn Nets. But his plan did not work out the way he probably wanted it to. The Nets were projected to be at the top at this point in time but right now they are out of the playoff race planning on what to do next.
The Warriors are obviously making a surprising push towards the final trophy. They are currently one win away from entering the NBA finals with a chance of potentially taking home the gold. One of their star players right now is Andrew Wiggins who was looked over as a very bad trade decision. The player put up 17.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.2 assists this season and helped win Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals.
Ben Simmons was a big reason why the Brooklyn Nets lost this season
Kevin Durant is definitely one of the best players in the league at this very moment. The player has dominated the NBA ever since he stepped onto the courts and quickly rose above all. Right now, the problem is not him but the teammates he is surrounded with that brought out the Nets’ worst side.
One of the biggest setbacks was not having Ben Simmons on the court. Brooklyn is a powerhouse offensively but what they lack otherwise was Simmons’ role to fill in. After arriving from Philadelphia, the player took a long time to finally begin working with the team and upon his arrival, he got injured with a herniated disc. This drastically affected the title hopes of the team and added to their frustrations, unfortunately.
Colin Cowherd says Kevin Durant is relying on Ben Simmons too much
Analyst Colin Cowherd became very critical of the All-Star forward. He pointed out how the Warriors are currently thriving without him. He said Kevin Durant was quick to leave them in hopes of building a title worthy roster elsewhere. KD’s reasons were numerous in number but Cowherd may have been right about the player making an atrocious choice of leaving one of the best teams of all time.
He further grazed upon Brooklyn’s situation saying, “I think he is way too talented to be connected to Ben Simmons who seems marginally interested in basketball and Kyrie who is marginally interested in anything not named Kyrie.” Despite all the upsets, Durant has shown his interest in continuing to work with his current team in hopes of winning a ring at some point.
