During this year’s free agency period in July, Lillard formally requested a trade away from the Portland Trail Blazers despite having shown over a decade of loyalty to the franchise. However, as of now, no trade deal has materialized.

The Trail Blazers are reportedly holding out for an exceptional offer for Damian Lillard, and the Miami Heat have been hesitant to meet their demands. This reluctance is due to Lillard’s status as a superstar player. In the 2022-23 season, Lillard had remarkable stats, averaging 32.2 points, 7.3 assists, and 4.8 rebounds in 58 games, earning him his sixth All-Star selection.

The trade talks regarding Lillard have stalled because the Blazers value him as an asset. They recently drafted Scoot Henderson, a promising point guard, with the third pick in the 2023 draft, which is the same position as Lillard. Portland aims to get significant assets from the Miami Heat in exchange for Lillard to build around Henderson. Despite expectations of a quick trade after Lillard’s request, two months have passed with no resolution.
