Damian Lillard spoke to Colin Cowherd about his matchup with Jordan Poole which was something that tells the entire world as to why you shouldn’t mess with Lillard. Trash talking in the NBA is a common phenomenon, but trash talking against Dame, the ice cold killer, not so much, and the reasons behind that became very evident after this anecdote given by the player himself which was in relation to the Golden State Warrior’s Jordan Poole.
Poole made the mistake of trash talking Dame, for which his team paid a heavy price and which also taught him a lesson that day.
The lesson that he learnt was about knowing whom and when to trash talk, and none of those answers contain Damian Lillard answer. You don’t want to trash talk Lillard and you don’t want to do it at any time really, because you aren’t going to be making anything out of it, except for failure or destruction. Poole learnt it the hard way and it definitely must’ve helped him understand things a lot better.

Damian Lillard talks Jordan Poole’s trash talk and how that made him pay a heavy price
Damian Lillard while in conversation with Colin Cowherd recalled an instance where he faced off against Jordan Poole and the Golden State Warriors. Dame mentioned that the Warriors were playing without Steph and Draymond and Jordan didn’t play for a really long time, but while the time he played, he scored, and when he scored a 3-pointer in front of Dame, he trash talked him. Dame noted that he usually doesn’t initiate trash talks but he replied to Jordan and that back and forth continued till the end of the game.
Lillard stated that he scored about 40 points but they still lost to the Warriors. Then in the next game against the Warriors, he started off slow and Poole was on the bench that time, and upon seeing Lillard not scoring, Poole said that Lillard wouldn’t be able to do much in the game because he wasn’t in form. Lillard scored 60 points that night and the Warriors lost, which is when he went near the Warriors bench and told Draymond who was sitting besides Poole that he didn’t really like the guy (Poole), and he didn’t want to mess with him.
Lillard also stated that Jordan had had real progress since that time and he wasn’t really surprised with that progress because the presence of Steph and Klay does have an effect on you.
