Damian Lillard arguing with Luka Doncic
Things got heated between Damian Lillard and Luka Doncic in a game between Dallas Mavericks and Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday. It was an ultimate showdown between two superstars, where the Blazers dominated the Mavericks. What appeared on the play, was Doncic tried to elbow Lillard after the ball was stripped off of him.
With over 7 minutes remaining on the clock in the fourth quarter, Tim Hardway Jr. was defending Damian Lillard at the halfcourt. Jabari Walker put a screen for Dame that made Luka switch to the play. Hardway was seen limping away after the play. Doncic tried to strip the ball off of the Portland star, and when the ball went out of bounds, Luka, apparently elbowed Dame Dalla with his left hand.
Furious with the rough play Damian Lillard turned around and appeared as if wanted to get even with the Mavericks superstar. Both the players got into a heated conversation. Apparently, Lillard was telling Luka that he elbowed him on the play. Jabari Walker from the Blazers and Spencer Dinwiddie from Mavericks also got around two players while they continued to argue.
Dame is one of the most gifted and dominating superstars in the league. Perhaps Doncic forgot that the superstar has sent the best teams home when it mattered the most. Luka got his lesson on the next play for poking the bear. When the next play happened, the Blazers star responded with a classy between three defenders, for a commanding 21 points lead.

Portland Trail Blazers and Damian Lillard completely obliterated the Mavericks in the game on Saturday. Mavericks entered the game with a 24-19 record and the Blazers with a 19-22 record. In a completely dominating performance, Lillard scored game-high 36 points for the Blazers. Seven of the players from Portland scored in two digits. Doncic scored only 15 points, recording one of his worst performances in the season. The entire Mavericks team crumbled around their superstar’s horrible performance.
Dallas Mavericks continue to struggle to suck out efficiency from Doncic’s co-stars. The game against a good team like Portland showed why putting stars around him is crucial to be successful in the playoffs. Many NBA analysts have expressed their concerns regarding Doncic’s game. He has been pointed out for slowing down the pace and playing an individual hero game. It remains to be seen, how the Mavs adjust their game plan in the midseason.
