“How about you try to play? YOU GUYS DO SOMETHING” Dan Patrick bamboozled as Kyrie Irving reveals desire for a max contract

Kyrie Irving
Kyrie Irving was probably the biggest letdown of this season for the Brooklyn Nets. The team went from being the top contenders for the title to a first-round exit which was extremely upsetting to witness. The players had taken it upon themselves for letting down the entire franchise. There were many reasons why the team was not able to make it through starting with player availability concerns to injuries.

Irving spoke about the unfortunate season saying, “I feel like I was letting the team down when I wasn’t able to play… it became a distraction at times.” Kevin Durant also had a rough series against the Boston Celtics saying that he felt that he was trying too hard. The veteran would later reveal that it was frustrations that conspired over the earlier months that affected the team emotionally.
Kyrie Irving fails to show out during the playoffs

The Nets were able to pull off an impressive run towards the end of the regular season to pull through into the play-in tournament. As expected the duo of Kyrie Irving and KD would lead them without any hesitation. However, they failed to be consistent in the following series against the defensive powerhouse Celtics. Durant struggled to find his rhythm while Boston’s defense kept holding him down.
Irving on the other hand did not play as well as he did during the regular as he was seen as the key piece to lead the team to a title. He averaged 27.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 5.8 assists on 46.9% shooting from the field before the playoffs where he put up just 21.3 points per piece. To add to their problems was Ben Simmons not showing up when they desperately needed him.
Dan Patrick reacts to Kyrie Irving expecting a max contract

Kyrie Irving is currently about to play his final year with the Nets after which he has the option of signing a contract extension. He could definitely opt out of the extension to expect a four-year deal at max. The player has expressed his feelings about playing with his current team saying that he wishes to continue until they bring something successful out of the situation.
“He said to Kevin Durant, ‘I could see us going on a four-year run of dominance.’ I’d be satisfied with a one-year run with Kyrie right now. How about you play, you guys do something and get it all together, a half year… that will be good enough,” said Dan Patrick. The sports reporter also said that he would not choose Irving or James Harden because of their recent showings.
