The Phoenix Suns had a rather disappointing end to their season. Playing the Denver Nuggets, the Suns were thwarted on their home court by 25 points. Despite Devin Booker’s consistently impressive performances, they failed to go further into title contention. However, the Suns did seem like they had concerns in their roster. Chris Paul was denied games due to an unfortunate injury and Kevin Durant was rather inconsistent. However, Deandre Ayton seemed to be a much bigger concern as the Center failed to make a significant impact across games.

The Dallas Mavericks, on the other hand, had one of the biggest shockers of the 2023 NBA season. In the most dramatic mid-season collapse, the Mavericks slid down the table and were out of Play-In contention. Both Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving were victims of harsh criticism from fans and critics. Needless to say, the Mavs would look to make significant changes to their roster for the 2023-24 NBA season. According to reports, they intend to rope in the Suns Center in Deandre Ayton.

Ayton signed a four-year, $133 million offer sheet with the Indiana Pacers last offseason that the Suns matched. He now has $102 million remaining on his contract for over three seasons in Phoenix. However, the Suns might want to send the Center away in exchange for a more effective and impactful player. On the other hand, many sources believe that Dallas’ pursuit of Ayton might be overstated. “I don’t get any sense at this juncture that Ayton is Dallas’ top trade target,” added Marc Stein.

The Mavericks are currently in the off-season looking to build a better roster for the next season. Luka Doncic would like to have a more defensive asset in the team alongside him. On the other hand, Kyrie Irving is suspected to move out of Dallas according to rumors. However, so far there is absolutely no confirmation on that front. Moreover, the Mavericks don’t have an upper hand in the NBA 2023 Draft after they were awarded the 10th overall pick in the lottery.

Within the league, the Dallas Mavericks have quite a few options in players they would look to trade in. Although there has been no confirmation yet there are quite a lot of rumors. According to many, the Mavericks are expected to give away their 10th overall pick in order to get a trade. They are also expected to pursue either Javale McGee or Davis Bertans. However, Ayton still remains a favorite for many.

There is no doubt that Dallas would look to rebuild around Doncic. Many also have contrary predictions about Kyrie Irving’s future with the Mavs. While some believe the guard is expected to leave, some say that Dallas would look to resign the star. However, the rumors will only be confirmed as we get closer to the 2023-24 NBA season.
