No young player in the game doesn’t respect LeBron James and consider him to be their inspiration. The four-time NBA champion is Dejounte Murray’s favorite and views him in the highest regard since the beginning of his career.

Recently on the podcast All the Smoke, Dejounte Murray was asked about his relationship with LeBron James, he answered, “That was my favorite player… from when he first got to the league, first year, the rookie year.”

LeBron James has always mentored young NBA players who play for other teams, like Dejounte Murray. He showed his appreciation for the 18-time All-Star on and off the court during the Hawks’ annual media day last year,

He said, “He’s a great dude. A great man, a great father, a great leader, and a great basketball player. Somebody that took me under his wing around 17 years old. So, you know, I’m always preaching I’m thankful and grateful because I mean that. I’m just thankful to have somebody like that in my corner, guiding me off the floor and also on the floor. So, that’s a great dude and I appreciate it.”

Dejounte Murray, Atlanta Hawks beat the NewYork Knicks 139-124

In a 139-124 victory over the New York Knicks on Friday night, Dejounte Murray scored 29 points and dished out 12 assists, Trae Young chipped in with 27 points, and the Hawks, who had been on a roll, broke away early in the fourth quarter. The Hawks (24-22), who are in eighth in the Eastern Conference, have already won five straight games.

For the Knicks, Julius Randle finished with 32 points and nine rebounds, but he was held scoreless in the final period. Dejounte Murray has four games in a row with at least 27 points. Young had six assists, and during the winning run, he averaged over nine.

“We want to be the best for each other and the best for our teammates,” Dejounte Murray said. “We’ve got to be consistent. We’ve got to continue to want the best for each other and continue to make our teammates better.”

Hawks coach Nate McMillan said Young, “has done a nice job of really initiating the offense,” and Dejounte Murray has, “been on fire” during the winning streak. Young said, “We’ve been playing really good, just taking what the defense is giving us… Guys are knocking down shots, just playing free basketball.”
