“It’s his track record,” DeMar DeRozan opens up about the furious reaction he had after getting shoved by Bucks’ Grayson Allen

DeMar DeRozan’s elite level performances have been allowing the Chicago Bulls to redeem their worthiness among the best in the league. He put on a show against the Milwaukee Bucks with top-level offense and gave the opposing team an upsetting loss in overtime. But the scene got quite dramatic mid-game.

Mid-way during the third quarter, Grayson Allen of the Bucks chose to play dirty against DeRozan while setting a “screen” to run a play. It did not look like a screen or a basketball play in general as Allen was seen pushing DeBo to the ground. Allen made it seem very nonchalant by ignoring DeMar who was trying to get back at him for the nasty foul.

Rod Schaefer spoke with Grayson about the incident, he said, “(It was) exactly what the video showed. I went to set a screen and got bumped into DeMar… When you go to get bumped into somebody, you put your arm out to stop yourself. I didn’t try to run him over.”

The point guard tried to play it cool and make it seem like he did not push DeMar DeRozan. He claimed that he tried to speak to DeBo after the play but the latter did not want to speak to him. He said that the fight was a result of a simple screen that came out of nowhere. Allen said DeMar only reacted because he didn’t expect the screen at all, which caused the hard foul.

DeMar DeRozan opened up about the emotions that were unveiled after the hard foul made by Grayson. He told reporters that he believes it was an intentional push due to Allen’s track record of making dirty plays. “It’s his track record. If it was Boban, I wouldn’t have done nothing,” he told the reporter following the game.

DeMar DeRozan managed to lead the Bulls past the Bucks regardless. He scored 42 points with 10 rebounds and 5 assists during the game backed by Zach LaVine’s 24 points. The Bulls did a significantly better job on defense. Giannis Antetokounmpo finished with 45 points and 22 rebounds shooting 17 of 39 FG.
