Everyone knows former NBA player Dennis Rodman as the most controversial athlete ever. He is known as a party animal for getting involved with both genders, citing various reasons. Little does anyone know the soft side of the former Chicago Bulls player.
Once Dennis Rodman gave up his party spirit to look after a 13-year-old suburban kid named Peter Ginopolis as earlier that day, the Pistons had defeated the Knicks, and some of his teammates had gone clubbing. This incident happened in 1987 when Rodman was in his second year in the NBA as he was playing for the Detroit Pistons. He was 25 years old, making $160,000 in salary. He was full of attitude, tattoos, and earrings. They jostled a small TV set inside a New York City hotel room, howled at the screen, and clutched Nintendo controllers sticky with palm sweat.
The boy was indeed having the time of his life. They ordered pizza and played Nintendo, a ritual Dennis followed to take him to every away game. Ginopolis, a private wealth manager now near Detroit, said, “He was really, really good, but it was like I was dealing with someone who was 13 years old. It was so weird; here I am this young kid, and my best friend is this NBA player who loves doing what I do.” Well, this incident in Rodman’s life is hard to believe for anyone.
Houston Rockets rookie compared to Dennis Rodman
Rockets rookie star Tari Eason has probably been one of the most exciting players of the past few months. Eason has proven that he was a star right from the beginning. There was no doubt that Eason would struggle to get his A-game into the NBA. Rockets coach John Lucas has compared Tari to NBA Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman. He even termed Eason as a perfect example of a better Dennis Rodman.
This might be a little bold statement by the Rockets’ head coach, but a bit of context would make his comment more acceptable. Eason does get rebounds at will and plays excellent defense. This much does make sense when it comes to a comparison between the two. It might be a bit too soon to make comparisons as Tari hasn’t played regular-season. With the kind accolades Eason has to his name, he could be a star like Rodman down the road.
