Dennis Rodman is one of those few players who got the opportunity to share the court with both Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. Black Jesus and Black Mamba are often compared for their very similar gameplay and skills. Bryant idolized Jordan growing up and just copied the whole bag of skills MJ had. Rodman though, recently claimed the original one to be better.
Dennis Rodman in a recent interview of his with VLADTV, was asked to compare Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan. While doing so he quoted: “When you get something similar but I think Michael was more driven to win. He hated the fact that we’re gonna win, we’re gonna win and he took control of that, you know. I give him that credit right there. I give him that it’s like I would say, Scottie had that will too but Kobe became like that. Kobe started to emulate his game like Michael and stuff like that.”
Dennis Rodman basically mentioned how Michael Jordan and even Scottie Pippen had that will to win. While Kobe Bryant had to develop that as he wanted to become like Mike. And, he was successful in doing so as today he’s referred to as one of the most competitive and tough players ever seen in the league’s history.
Further, Dennis Rodman even threw out an example while comparing the two toughest guys in the league. While riding with Michael Jordan to be better than Kobe Bryant he quoted: “I think Kobe was more like a gymnast, you know, when he played, and Mike was more like […] you know a ballet dance because you know what most of the time he plays on his toes. When he does everything it’s always like boom boom of a sudden one-two punch.”
Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan are very similar and one can even have a hard time differentiating their gameplay. But Dennis Rodman has his answer set with a sensible reasoning and MJ would be happy to listen to this. But Kobe Bryant would have straightaway ignored it as he has always claimed himself to be better than Jordan.

Dennis Rodman joined the Los Angeles Lakers in the 1999 season. But unfortunately, he was never able to build some good chemistry with the superstar duo of Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant. He believes the reason behind them not liking him was his portrayal as a new superstar in the team and the way all the attention shifted towards him as soon he arrived in Los Angeles. Worm also mentioned that he was dating Jeanie Buss at that time.
In the same interview, revealing the reason behind his disappointing run with the Los Angeles Lakers, Dennis Rodman said: “Kobe and Shaq wouldn’t like me because a whole attention became Dennis. It shifted from them to me quickly. I mean you can see it in the stands, see it in the city and stuff like that… I am like I am not trying to do anything. They would rarely talk to me, even in games and stuff. That’s the main reason why they cut me. I think they went to the upper head and they didn’t want me there anymore.”
It’s unfortunate that the trio didn’t work. Dennis Rodman was released in the summer and that called a wrap to his career in the NBA. As he was of no good use during his next run with the Dallas Mavericks. While Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal went on to dominate the league and become champions.
