The tune-up games for the 2023 FIBA World Cup are underway and in one such game, Dennis Schroder led Germany bashed Dillon Brooks led Canada. The final score in the match was 86-81, as Germany proved to be the better team. However, during the second game, Canada took the lead 113-112 in a close encounter that went to overtime. Schroder had some fun with Dillon Brooks in both games as the roles were reversed and this time it was not Dillon Brooks who was doing the trash-talking and the fun-making.
In the last game too that was played on August 10, Schroder was in the mood for some fun, and during the second quarter, as the ball rolled to the half court, therein happened a funny moment. As the ball rolled, Brooks tried to press on Schroder. But Schroder turned out too quick for Brooks. On the other side, Brooks, while attempting to steal the ball from him, had a fall on the ground.
In this game, too, Schroder was in the mood and was not going to take Brooks’ trash-talking. At the start of the clip, Brooks calls out the referee, standing alongside Schroder and there is a heated argument there. Only a few seconds later, Schroder calls for the pass and hits it while Brooks was guarding him. Schroder, in typical schoolboy fashion, pointed his finger at him and laughed.
What are Germany’s and Canada’s chances for the World Cup?
Germany’s squad includes 5 NBA players and boasts of players such as Dennis Schroder, Franz Wagner, and Andreas Obst who have shown their mettle in the NBA. As Germany has been put into one of the roughest groups of the World Cup, Germany coach Gordie Herbert said, “We have a great group coming to the training camp. Everyone shows great commitment. We’re playing for a medal at the World Cup.”
Canada’s roster too is stacked with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jamal Murray, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, R.J. Barrett, and Dillon Brooks. With these players leading from the front, the team should be sailing, but that was the emotion back when Steve Nash was playing too and the max they could grab was a silver. However, this time with seasoned veterans and emerging athletes, Canada looks ready to make an impact.
The Canadian has just grabbed a massive $80 Million contract with the Houston Rockets. On the international side, the Canadians boast a roster that is stacked. Germany, on the other hand, is highly athletic and has proved that it can take up big teams like Canada through the last encounter. It will be interesting to see these two teams compete at the highest levels as the official matches are set to begin on 25th August.
