“From MVP to Mr. Nobody” Derrick Rose was accused of raping ex-girlfriend in a potential $21 Million lawsuit.

Derrick Rose‘s ex-girlfriend had filed a lawsuit against him and his friends in 2016, alleging that they drugged and gang-raped her. She claimed that she put off filing the lawsuit because she was embarrassed and ashamed. Rose was apparently out of the country on business at the time, so the claims had minimal influence on his public image. At the time of this case, Adidas, with whom he has a multimillion-dollar endorsement agreement, had just released a new basketball shoe named after him.

Rose and his two friends, Randall Hampton and Ryan Allen, were accused of drugging her at her house and then driving to her Los Angeles residence, sneaking in and assaulting her. She’s was asking for a lawsuit worth  $21 million. Derrick was a talented kid who rose from poverty in Chicago’s Englewood area to become a multimillionaire Bulls superstar, was an inspiration to many of his admirers. Rose, on the other hand, was considered a rapist to the woman he knowingly dated for two years.

Derrick Rose was once widely regarded as one of the top players in the NBA. He was the best player on the team, he was explosive and he was revolutionizing the point guard position. Tom Thibodeau kept Rose in despite the fact that the Chicago Bulls were up by double digits against the Philadelphia 76ers late in Game 1 of their first-round playoff series. Rose fell down in pain with what appeared to be a serious knee injury, and it was later discovered that he had ruptured his ACL. He went on to miss the whole 2012-13 season rehabbing from the injury, and when he attempted to return in 2013-14, he tore his meniscus in his second knee, making a recovery even more unlikely.

But there’s a reason why Rose, who signed with the New York Knicks again after being traded from the Bulls in the summer of 2016, is now on his fifth team. Rose’s trademark explosiveness and remarkable athleticism are no longer present. Instead, Rose is regarded as a high-volume, inefficient role player who slows down the offense and can’t play a single defensive action.

A federal jury in Los Angeles ruled Derrick Rose, of the New York Knicks, not guilty in the civil suit accusing him and two friends, Ryan Allen and Randall Hampton, of rape. According to the Los Angeles Times, the suit accused Rose, Allen, and Hampton of breaking into the home of the claimed victim, former girlfriend of Rose, who sought $21 million in damages. Neither Rose, Allen, nor Hampton denied having intercourse with the woman. The question was whether she was too drunk to consent. The three men had known each other since they were children in Chicago as  Allen and Hampton were both employed by Rose. Although no criminal charges have been brought, a Los Angeles Police Department investigation was still ongoing.
