“Don’t see a damn thing funny” – Dillon Brooks’ treatment by Grizzlies gets SLAMMED by Kendrick Perkins

Dillon Brooks has been in rough waters since the Memphis Grizzlies–Los Angeles Lakers series ended. The Grizzlies forward has been an integral part of the roster for over six seasons now. However, following his altercations with LeBron James in the first-round series, there were bound to be consequences. Brooks was easily the most talked about player during the series for his usual trash-talking. Moreover, his poor run in the series in terms of scoring was another reason why the forward was disliked by many.
In a revelation by league sources, the Memphis Grizzlies have been reported to end ties with the Canadian forward. Although the elimination from title contention would be a strong reason, Brooks’ behavior throughout the past few seasons has consistently been poor. He has had altercations with multiple players throughout the league. Moreover, he was also suspended without pay just after the mid-season break. However, former NBA player turned-analyst Kendrick Perkins has expressed his disapproval of the Grizzlies’ handling of the situation.
“It’s one thing for us to clown and joke about him throughout the course of the series, but you come back and say that you’re not gonna bring him back no matter the circumstances. Like zero chances,” Kendrick Perkins started explaining his view on the Grizzlies’ announcement.
“This guy spent six years in your organisation. For a couple of those years, he was actually great for you. So at the end of the day, my thing is when it comes down to affecting the livelihood, it is also a reflection of your organisation,” he added.
Perkins also said, “If they don’t wanna sign him so what? Don’t sign him. But you don’t have to put it out there like that. Like he committed a damn crime or something.”

Dillon Brooks is probably battling the worst time of his career
Apart from his reported departure from Memphis, Dillon Brooks isn’t necessarily having the best time of his life. For a competitive player like him, eliminations are hard enough as they are. Moreover, fans and NBA viewers look to grasp at every opportunity they can get to make fun of the 28-year-old. Brooks was also recently heckled by a fan crowd in Los Angeles following the Grizzlies’ loss to the Lakers.
In addition to that, the NBA imposed a fine on Dillon Brooks after he failed to show up at the post-series media availability. Brooks denied to talk to the press following multiple games in the series. Specifically, those in which Memphis lost, or Brooks failed to perform. Moreover, after the Grizzlies lost Game 6, Brooks reportedly left the team locker room before reporters could arrive for a chat. Following his cold shoulder to the media, the league imposed a $25,000 fine on the forward.
There is no doubt that Brooks will have a rather difficult time finding a new home in the NBA. With his reputation in shambles, fans and critics continuously joke about his exit from the league altogether. Moreover, many also predict that the forward would move to China to play in the Chinese Basketball Association League (CBA). A joke trend that has been very popular in recent times to mock players who underperform.
Whether or not Brooks finds a new organization in the US is something everyone will have to wait for. Until then, the only certain thing as of now is that we won’t see Dillon Brooks in the Grizzlies jersey anymore.
