In light of an interview with Dirk Nowitzki on In Depth with Graham Besinger, the former NBA legend shared his experience when he and his team the Dallas Mavericks lost to the Golden State Warriors in the 2007 NBA season. He labeled this loss as a devastating one and made him disappointed considering the fact that Dirk won the MVP for that season.

Nowitzki in his interview said:

I remember just being so frustrated, We were so close to winning, it's like your heart gets ripped out a little bit but I always said to myself, 'Hey, we have a young team, I'm still in my prime.' At the end of the day, I think we'll be right back there and then next year came and we were rolling, "We won 67 games, that was my MVP season and we're the heavy favorites to win it all.

I'm feeling good. I'm playing my best basketball and we run into a hot team with Golden State and we're losing the first round and in a way I was more disappointed, frustrated after that loss than I was after the Finals loss. That was, I think the low point of my career… I didn't want to leave my house for a while.

The Golden State Warriors were a team filled with young talent and were labeled as the underdog team in the league in the 2007 NBA season. The Mavs taking a tough beat from the Warriors in the NBA finals of 103-99 was definitely a shocker for the MVP. The Warriors defeated the Mavericks, not to mention that Dirk Nowitzki was in his prime, stripping the 2-0 lead of the Dallas Mavericks in the championship finals.

The 2007 Warriors was shortlived yet one of the most impressive seasons of all time in the league and the team was led by Baron Davis. Dirk sheds light on how tough it was for him to play against the Warriors throughout the time of the NBA season.

Luka after the game in a friendly banter replied to have not heard what Dirk’s analysis was as the analyst on the Mavs broadcast team and trolled the 45-year-old. Nowizki for the time being the analyst in the game gave his analysis and it was the first time for basketball enthusiasts to hear the former MVP’s take on Luka’s shotmaking.

He said:

He’s probably the best horse player I’ve ever seen. Outside of Brad Davis… Luka has got to best horse player I’ve ever seen. He is making some straight gar-bagé.

The Dallas Mavericks swayed their way to a 121-115 victory against the Houston Rockets, placing them in the third position in the Western Conference standings.
