Sabonis injured his thumb
Domantas Sabonis has been one of the most crucial pieces for the success of the Sacramento Kings this season. Traded for Tyrese Haliburton, the Indiana Pacers and Kings have benefited from their respective players. Unfortunately, during the last week of December, the Kings forward sustained a thumb injury on his right hand, which continues to affect him. When questioned if any of the players purposefully targeted his finger during the games, Sabonis had a lot to say.
Sabonis, although without naming any specific players, stated that there have been individuals who have come to take advantage of his thumb injury. “Yeah, there’s been a couple players. I’m not gonna say names, but there’s been a couple players. Some players even joke (about it), but we’re close. But sometimes you’re like, ‘Damn, that looked pretty (suspect). Like, how are we going for a rebound and you grab that area? And I don’t say nothing,” Sabonis stated.
The Kings forward remarked after suffering the injury against the Washington Wizards that he wishes he didn’t have to worry about it because it gets hurt a lot during games. “But it is something that I wish I didn’t have to think about or worry (about), because it does hurt during the game sometimes when it gets hit in certain areas,” Sabonis revealed. He also mentioned that the discomfort is in his right hand, which hurts because it is not his shooting hand. Also, he revealed that it is not painful during passing or dribbling.

Domantas Sabonis and De’Aaron Fox were on ESPN a few weeks ago, and they discussed their approach to the game. Whether it was fortunate or unfortunate, one man kept an eye on it. Kyrie Irving was the one. The guard was impressed with the segment in which they broke down their pick-and-roll, but he added that the two should stop spilling their secrets.
A compliment from a player of Irving’s caliber is unquestionably a proud moment for any player. Reacting to his comments, Sabonis said, “You know, coming from Europe (Sabonis is Lithuanian), you see all these superstars, and to think one of the best is scouting us in that (form) … is pretty cool. It shows a level of respect. When we played those games, it definitely felt like there was more to it. It was more like a playoff game. So that’s pretty cool,” he remarked.
