LeBron James and Donovan Mitchell

Cleveland Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell has got a feather in his cap. His recent statistics when he played against the New York Knicks have amused everyone. Moreover, no one has been able to match those numbers, including former Cleveland player LeBron James.

Donovan was traded from the Utah Jazz to the Cavaliers, and this move has been a win-win for the player and his current NBA team. The Cavs were always excited about what Donovan got to the table for them as well as his role with the potential the team holds. He has been performing superbly for the team, and his stats speak for himself. He has been unreal, especially on the offensive end since he joined the Cavs.

In the match against the New York Knicks, Mitchell registered 38 pts, 12 assists, and made 8 out of the 13 attempted three-pointers. This stat line is something that no one has ever recorded for the Cavs franchise, including their former players like Kyrie Irving and LeBron James. Mitchell’s splendid outing resulted in Cleveland winning 121-108. Many have even stated him with much more greatness than LeBron.

Donovan Mitchell has been a player of high caliber, and he showed everyone that this isn’t wrong. He has been playing a high-class game since joining the Cavs, breaking a record no one could think of achieving. Mitchell has become an outstanding team leader in the scoring department, with the likes of Evan Mobley, Jarrett Allen, and Cedi Osman also contributing. In his debut game, Donovan Mitchell recorded 31 points on 57 percent shooting from the field against the Raptors though these numbers came in a losing cause.

After that, there was no looking behind for him. Against the Bulls, he scored 32 points with 52 percent from the field and 66 percent from the three-point line. The Cavs next faced the Wizards, where he registered 37 points with 41 percent from the field. Mitchell, just three games old for the Cavs, was averaging 33.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and seven assists, with 49.3 percent from the field and 42.3 percent from the three-point line.

He is sixth in the NBA’s top scorers’ rankings behind Jayson Tatum, Ja Morant, Damian Lillard, Luka Doncic, and Stephen Curry and is only a few points away from the top spot. With such staggering numbers, the NBA Twitter is mesmerized by Mitchell’s top-class performance. Social media was flooded with many ‘appreciating’ tweets for him which can be seen below:
