“I almost got hit in the head with a snapple bottle” Donovan Mitchell reveals how eager was he get a glimpse of his idol LeBron James
LeBron James and Donovan Mitchell
Back in 2010, LeBron James announced his decision to leave Cleveland Cavaliers and go join the Miami Heat on National TV. This decision, however, had a significant impact on a 13-year-old NBA future star, Donovan Mitchell. He was in attendance when LeBron made the decision and was overjoyed and excited.
Donovan Mitchell said, “It was in Greenwich, Conn., and I went to school in Greenwich (at Greenwich Country Day School). So, as a big LeBron fan in the sixth grade, I forced my mom to let me go. I wanted him to go to Miami. I wanted him to get his first ring.” He further added, “The people there who were Knicks fans … they weren’t too happy about it. I almost got hit in the head with a Snapple bottle because they were just throwing stuff around outside. It was cool. I was just celebrating, so it was pretty cool.”
LeBron James has been a hero for many young players and this incident in NBA future star Donovan Mitchell’s life is an example how big King James’ legacy is. Donovan had an outstanding first outing with the Utah Jazz. He was successful in scoring 40 plus points in multiple games. Mitchell is highly regarded by many former players as the next big thing in the NBA league.

Utah Jazz trade Donovan Mitchell to Cleveland Cavaliers instead of New York Knicks
The Utah Jazz successfully sent Donovan Mitchell to the Cleveland Cavaliers instead of New York Knicks, according to Ric Bucher of Fox Sports. Donovan reportedly wanted a move to the New York Knicks, but the Jazz officials were not happy with him moving to New York and hence instead traded him to a different spot. Cleveland acquired Mitchell in exchange for Collin Sexton, Lauri Markkanen and Ochai Agbaji, plus three first-round draft picks and two pick swaps. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Knicks had been heavily involved in trade talks for Mitchell, reportedly offering RJ Barrett, Obi Toppin, Mitchell Robinson and three unprotected first-round picks in exchange for the guard earlier in the offseason.
