“I thought it was bullsh*t that the video was leaked” Draymond Green admits that his actions were awful
Draymond Green
Draymond Green and Jordan Poole had gotten into a fight at practice and nobody understood how bad things were until news broke last week. As the issue was made public, the Golden State Warriors’ management was keen to get ahead of things. Unfortunately, things became worse for the group when TMZ published practice footage from the brawl. Green was chastised by everyone from players to media members to fans once the tape was aired.
Unfortunately, because there was no audio of the scenario, viewers had no way of knowing what triggered the punch. Draymond Green got in Poole’s face, Poole shoved Green, and a punch landed on Poole’s face that’s all we know from the video. Green was asked what he thought about the video being public for the first time since punching Poole, and he revealed his immediate feelings after seeing it over again.
Draymond Green speaks on the Controversy and apologizes for his actions
“I thought it was bulls–t that the video leaked,” Green said. “And saying that what did I think of myself at the moment? I watched the video 15 times, maybe more. Because when I watched the video, I’m looking at the video and I’m like, ‘Yo, this looks awful.’ This looks even worse than I thought it was. It’s pathetic. And then I had to take a step back too and realize that this video was released this way to look that way.
“For whoever leaked the video, it did the same thing for me that it is intended to do to the world. It’s an audio-less video, it’s a video that cuts to me walking right to him. So the video serves the purpose that it was supposed to serve.” Warriors coach Steve Kerr has seen it all on the basketball court, both publicly and privately, and explained why it’s critical that incidents like this one are handled internally. “There’s been a great vibe,” Kerr said. “We’ve had a hell of a camp. You have bumps in the road and you deal with it.”
Green, 32, has four All-Star appearances and seven All-Defensive selections in his career, averaging 8.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.4 assists. Poole, 23, is in his fourth season with the Warriors after being taken 28th overall in the 2019 draught. He had a breakout season last year, scoring 18.5 points per game in 76 games (51 starts). “I adore Jordan Poole; that’s my man,” Draymond Green added, admitting that he didn’t know if his initial apology to the squad on Thursday was properly accepted by Poole. “I will continue to ride for Jordan, advocate for Jordan, and do all in my power to make Jordan’s job easier.”
