The Los Angeles Lakers find themselves trailing 2-0 in the Western Conference Finals after a hard-fought battle against the Denver Nuggets in Game 2. Despite the Lakers’ superstar duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis, the Nuggets proved their resilience and secured a 108-103 victory.
In a recent episode of his podcast, NBA star Draymond Green shared his insights on the Los Angeles Lakers’ struggles against the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals. Green, known for his defensive ability and basketball IQ, offered his advice to LeBron James and the Lakers on how to turn the tide in the series.
“What ultimately ended up winning the Nuggets the game was Jamal Murray’s performance in the fourth quarter,” Green said. “Jamal Murray had 23 of his 37 points in the fourth quarter. He totally took the game over. Lakers scored 24 points in the fourth quarter, and Jamal Murray had 23 points. This is a Jarred Vanderbilt series. Jarred Vanderbilt has to play minutes to take Jamal Murray out of the game. Guess what? He had a very tough first quarter. He had a very rough first half. Jarred Vanderbilt played more in the first quarter and the first half.”
Green emphasized the importance of Jarred Vanderbilt’s defensive presence to neutralize Murray’s impact. By suggesting that Vanderbilt be given more minutes, Green believes the Lakers can effectively contain the explosive guard and turn the series in their favor.

Jamal Murray emerged as the game-changer, After struggling in the first three quarters, Murray unleashed a stunning offensive display in the fourth quarter, dropping 23 of his game-high 37 points. His performance showcased his ability to take control of crucial moments and shift the momentum in favor of the Nuggets.
Nikola Jokic, the heart and soul of the Nuggets, provided a steadying presence throughout the game. Notching his 7th triple-double of the playoffs, Jokic equaled the legendary Wilt Chamberlain for the most triple-doubles in a single postseason in NBA history. His all-around skills and leadership continue to elevate the Nuggets’ performance.
On the other hand, the Lakers’ star power seemed to falter under the mounting pressure. Anthony Davis, coming off a remarkable 40-point performance in Game 1, struggled to find his rhythm, finishing with just 18 points on 4-of-15 shooting. LeBron James, although posting impressive numbers of 22 points, 10 assists, and nine rebounds, appeared fatigued, making critical mistakes in crucial moments that marred his overall performance.
As the series shifts to Crypto.com Arena for Game 3, the Lakers face a must-win situation. Draymond Green’s advice to deploy Jarred Vanderbilt to contain Jamal Murray might hold the key to the Lakers’ success. It remains to be seen whether the Lakers will pay attention to Green’s words and implement his suggested defensive strategy to mount a comeback against the resilient Nuggets.
