The upcoming game between the Golden State Warriors and the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday has already become a hot topic among NBA fans, thanks to a war of words between Draymond Green and Dillon Brooks. In a recent interview with ESPN, Brooks said he disliked the Warriors team, mainly Green, because “Draymond talks a lot. Gets away with a lot, too.”

Green, not one to hold back, responded to Brooks’ comments in his most recent podcast, The Draymond Green Show. He called Brooks a “clown” and an “idiot” and questioned his understanding of basketball.

“(Brooks) said, ‘I don’t like Draymond at all.’ You don’t know me. That’s number one,” Green said. He said, “‘I just don’t like Golden State.’ I, quite frankly, wouldn’t like a team that beats me all the time either. That’s number two. ‘I don’t want anything to do with them.’ Quite frankly, you were a little kid in high school watching us win championships. You should be happy that you even witnessed that … You’re a fan. That’s crazy.”

Green provided his perspective on how Brooks contributed to the Grizzlies’ failure to overcome their limitations and contend for a championship.

“If you ever wondered why the Memphis Grizzlies are not ready to compete for a championship, look no further than this idiot right here,” Green said. “They actually are depending on this guy to help them win a championship, and he says his game is cool. Quite frankly, that just shows how little you know about basketball. That’s where it gets really interesting. Your level of understanding the game of basketball is at a fan level. And you’re running around talking about a dynasty? The dynasty starts after you, not with you. That’s just a fact. I know dynasty-like players. They aren’t clowns. That doesn’t work when building a dynasty. Take it from me, I actually know. Clowns don’t work building a dynasty.”

Warriors and Grizzlies Rivalry Intensifies Amidst Controversial Incidents on the Court and Morant’s Suspension

The Warriors and Grizzlies have developed a rivalry in recent years, with both teams having different levels of success. The Warriors beat the Grizzlies in a heated Western Conference semi-finals on their way to their fourth championship. Both teams have had disagreements on the court, with Green and Brooks being involved in some of them.

There were incidents involving hard fouls and injuries during the Western Conference semi-finals. In Game 1, Green was ejected for a flagrant two-foul on Clarke. In Game 2, Brooks was also ejected for a nasty foul on Payton II, which resulted in Payton breaking his elbow. In Game 3, Morant hurt his knee, and both Morant and Grizzlies head coach Jenkins suggested that Poole had caused the injury, but the league reviewed the play and found nothing suspicious.

Brooks has been openly critical of the Warriors during this season, which caused Klay Thompson to mock him after hitting a crucial 3-pointer in the Christmas game they won. The Warriors defeated Memphis in their second game at Chase Center with a last-second shot.

While the trash talk between the two teams has been entertaining for fans, the focus will shift to the court as the Warriors look to continue their winning ways and the Grizzlies look to upset one of the best teams in the league.

The Grizzlies will face a setback as their top player, the NBA, suspended Ja Morant due to an incident where he allegedly displayed a firearm during an Instagram Live video at a Denver nightclub. Morant has already missed the team’s previous two games.
