The Boston Celtics experienced a devastating defeat by the Miami Heat, losing their chance at a comeback. Down 3-0, they won three games straight but ultimately fell short in Game 7 with an 84-103 loss. The defeat was marred by lackluster performances from key players on the Celtics team, namely Jaylen Brown‘s dismal dribbling and shooting skills and Jayson Tatum‘s unusually off night on the field.
These underwhelming displays significantly contributed to the overwhelming defeat they faced. Draymond Green had some words of his own for the Celtics’ performance as he roasted the team.
While speaking about the Celtics’ loss on his podcast, Green went all in. He said, “The Boston Celtics are who we thought they were. They got to the moment and they did not look like they were ready for the moment.” Green went further to ridicule the team, he said, “All of a sudden the shots were short again. All of a sudden they looked like they couldn’t play basketball with their left hand.”
At no point did Green hold back as he further stated, “Quite frankly, the first thing I say… ‘Wow, they look like it’s Game 1 of the regular season.’ ‘Wow, they look like they looked in the closeout game last year.’” He went on, “And so you have to question, like, does that become your emote. Like, when it gets tough, what do you do?”
Green then went on to highlight how the Celtics choked in the most important games. He said, “If you think back through the series… in every game that mattered, every game they were supposed to win, they lost!”

The Boston Celtics’ devastating loss to the Miami Heat where the team CHOKED, as stated by Draymond Green
In a devastating Game 7 at TD Garden, the Celtics endured a crushing 19-point defeat. Not only did they suffer the loss on their home turf, but it was largely due to Jaylen Brown’s woeful display. His performance will be remembered for years to come, and he will face the wrath of disappointed fans. Just like Draymond Green stated, Brown choked, and his performance was the center of attraction for fans post-game.
Jaylen Brown proved to be one of the most disappointing players in the postseason run. He displayed terrible shooting, shot selection, handles, and on-and-off defense. Moreover, he led the playoffs in turnovers and fouls. Adding to the disappointment, his Game 7 statistics shed light on the state of his performance. Brown went 1-7 from beyond the arc, shot 38% from the field, and committed 8 turnovers, all with the series on the line.
The Celtics had an astonishingly low shooting percentage of 23.7%, while Miami showcased almost double the accuracy with a 50% shooting rate. They faced great criticism from NBA Analysts including Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley. The team will now look to make some major changes in their organization this summer, following this loss.
