“That’s the LEBRON effect” Drew League feels the heat of LeBron James with massive crowd present for the first time in 10 years.
Lebron James at the Drew League
On Saturday, LeBron James made his eagerly awaited return to the Drew League in a performance not seen by basketball fans since 2011 and the King didn’t disappoint. NBA players have frequently appeared in the Drew League, a pro-am summer basketball league established in Los Angeles, to impress spectators and rivals alike. But James hit the court to put on a show and he didn’t stop displaying his powerhouse performances for the first time since 2011 in the Drew League, when the NBA was shut down due to a lockout.
The Chicago Bulls player DeMar DeRozan and the Los Angeles Lakers star were teammates on the MMV Cheaters team, who took on Black Pearl. James pushed his team to a 104-102 victory, tallying his usual illustrious stat line of 42 points, 16 rebounds, and 4 steals. DeRozan contributed an additional huge statline. The 37-year-old’s presence at the popular Pro-Am league was witnessed by a standing-room only audience of people of all ages inside the gym at King/Drew Magnet High School in Los Angeles only hours after it was reported he would be playing.
Lebron James’ 20th year in the league.
Even in year 20 there is no slowing the LeBron James machine. The Lakers player has been posting about his exercises on social media around 4 am. If tenacity is a characteristic trait, LeBron certainly possesses a lot of it. At four in the morning, the Los Angeles Lakers player was seen posting about his workouts. He doesn’t really have much more to prove as he has won four championships and is the first player to lead three different teams to victory. His longevity is unmatched as well because in his 19th season, he averaged 30 points per game last year.
If there’s one thing NBA fans can all agree on, it’s work ethic and commitment. That part of James has undoubtedly come through as he has been working hard, and it is time for the Lakers organisation to assemble a team deserving of him. They must contend for the championship this year and we are very much aware of that LeBron wants a fifth to tie his late friend Kobe Bryant. In addition, he would be second to Michael Jordan, his role model. He will also have five rings, which will be plenty to resurrect the GOAT discussion.

The Lakers superstar teamed up with Bulls superstar Demar DeRozan to lead the MMV Cheaters to a 104-102 victory against Black Pearl Elite in a primetime matchup of unbeaten teams. The intense environment provided the setting for what ultimately turned out to be yet another legendary performance for the Lakers superstar. James ended the game with 42 points, 16 rebounds, and four steals, following up his 33-point, 10-assist, and 7-rebound performance from his Drew League debut 11 years prior with a more-than-impressive performance. DeRozan, a Pro-Am regular and legend of the Drew League, finished the contest with 30 points and 14 rebounds.
Fans in attendance and those following the NBA live stream around the world were in for a special treat from the minute James stepped foot inside the gym. The four-time NBA champion and MVP was surrounded by hundreds of paparazzi and thousands of fans as he made his way to the court. During warm-ups, James expressed his gratitude for the love and support. Draymond Green of the Warriors, Talen Horton-Tucker of the Lakers, Kendrick Nunn of the Lakers, and Baron Davis, a former NBA player, were also there.
