Dwayne Wade recently made his way back to the NBA headlines as a video of him discussing the criticism and hate the Miami Heat Big 3 got resurfaced on the internet and went viral again. LeBron James and Chris Bosh joined Miami Heat in 2010 to play alongside Flash. Not many thought this was possible but the three stars came together took a pay cut so the team can be formed and went on to make history. But recently, Dwayne Wade revealed how tough those years really were for them as fans were just senselessly hating them for forming a super-team and deciding their own future.
Dwayne Wade appearing on JJ Redick’s podcast “The Old Man and the Three” talked about the absolutely unnecessary hate the Big Three of Miami Heat were getting during their era of dominating the league. He was completely honest when he was talking about the racism the three had to face as life wasn’t easy for them and they were the first ones to do so by forming a super-team even though they existed before too. As Dwayne Wade said: “At that moment when we made a decision as players and kind of put the control in player’s hand and change the dynamics of what people are used to… So you get hate when you are the first one to do it in the way we did it.”

Dwayne Wade is glad that the team took the hate and changed the league for the betterment of everyone. But something which disheartened and disappointed him was the ugly hate they were getting out there, from the fans which he didn’t even knew existed. He also detailed the experience he had on their first trip to Cleveland Cavaliers and how being in the locker room he was able to hear, see and feel the hate out there by fans.
Further, talking about the criticism, hate and racism the team and especially the Big Three experienced. Dwayne Wade quoted: “We knew that some of the hate was because of our skin color. Because of being black men and deciding to control the fate of our careers. Organizations will do it quickly. They will trade a Dwyane Wade in a heartbeat if you’re not accomplishing what they want you to accomplish. So when we had the power, when we had the moment, we took it. But some of the hate came because we were three black guys who decided. And we changed the way that the NBA probably would ever be because of that decision.”
The Big Three of Miami Heat: Dwayne Wade, LeBron James and Chris Bosh lost in the NBA Finals in their first year as Dirk Nowitzki had other plans. But then went on to win two championships and make history. But time was different back then and racism which still exists was booming up and not in that good control. So such basketball players, honestly black players who made some basketball decisions thinking about their future and comfort had to pay the price and that’s exactly what happened with the Big Three of Miami Heat. But now the players benefit from their decisions and do what they feel is best for them like James Harden and Kevin Durant.
