The fight between Jabari Smith Jr and Jalen Green
On the team bench during the Houston Rockets’ victory against the Utah Jazz on Monday night, tensions rose as the game became more intense. The former team’s veteran player Eric Gordon was having none of it as he looked unbothered when Jalen Green and Jabari Smith Jr got into a confrontation.
For Houston, who still hadn’t recorded their first victory of the year, there was a lot on the line, so it seems obvious that tensions were high. On Monday night, the previously winless Houston Rockets defeated Utah 114-108, delivering the Jazz their first upset of the year. The Rockets were in complete control the whole game, dominating three of the four quarters, but they were unable to contain the emotions that flowed throughout the rest of the squad.
In today’s game, Jalen Green and Jabari Smith Jr played important leading roles for the Rockets, but during the game’s fourth quarter, most heads concentrated on the Rockets’ bench. Green and Smith Jr got into a heated argument at one point during a timeout and Eric Gordon, who was confused by the occurrence and didn’t seem to want to get involved in the drama, is evident in the frame. Green then revealed the breach between him and Smith soon after the game and claimed it never really existed.
First win of the season for the young Rockets against the Jazz

The host Houston Rockets defeated the previously unbeaten Utah Jazz 114-108, led by a double-double from Kevin Porter Jr. and 20 points from Jalen Green and Jabari Smith Jr. Smith, who was starting at centre for the first time, finished the game against the Jazz with 9 rebounds and 3 blocks. The three of them went a combined 18 for 18 from the charity stripe, and Green recorded his third consecutive 20-point performance while going 4 for 8 from beyond the arc.
Jordan Clarkson scored 17 points to lead the Jazz, who had had won in OT in New Orleans the previous night. Lauri Markkanen added 14, Simone Fontecchio scored 13 points off the bench, while Jarred Vanderbilt and Kelly Olynyk combined for 26 points and 20 rebounds. The Jazz also unleashed a more effective offence and produced crucial layups by Fontecchio and Markkanen. It was Houston’s first win of the early season and Utah’s first defeat of the 2022–23 regular season.

What was exchanged between the two is unknown, as is the reason behind the heated argument. You may be sure that Smith Jr did not enjoy what Green was saying to him since he pulled the arm away from Kevin Porter Jr. during the tense exchange. The altercation wasn’t the funniest thing we saw, but Rockets veteran Eric Gordon’s unfazed response to the conflict taking place directly alongside him was.
This is how fans around YouTube reacted to the exchange:
