“Wipe the slate clean. Start from scratch” NBA Executive believes Brooklyn Nets should rebuild again and part ways with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving after firing Steve Nash
Bobby Marks Kyrie Irving Kevin Durant and Steve Nash
ESPN NBA Front Office Insider Bobby Marks feels that the Brooklyn Nets management should part ways with the superstar duo of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. Recently the Nets fired their head coach Steve Nash. Bobby feels that the Nets should start afresh and build a concrete foundation.
Bobby Marks was talking on the show ‘NBA Today,’ where he quoted, “You do not need Kyrie Irving and I think when you go from Kyrie… and I think it starts with Kevin Durant here. I get the Ime Udoka hire is the last straw here, but if you’re looking from Brooklyn’s perspective, wipe the slate clean. Start from scratch. You’ve proved you can do it – you did it in 2016 and 17…”
Kevin and Kyrie have given the Nets’ management enough headaches until now. Earlier this offseason, Durant handed in a trade request and reportedly gave the team an ultimatum to either fire general manager Sean Marks and coach Steve Nash or send him to another franchise. While Irving, on the other hand, invited controversy when the seven-time NBA All-Star took to social media to tweet out an OTT link to a movie with antisemitic content.
The Nets GM, Sean Marks states that Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving were not consulted before firing head coach Steve Nash
Brooklyn Nets general manager Sean Marks told reporters that the Nets superstar duo of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving were not consulted before the team parted ways with coach Steve Nash. Moreover, no other Brooklyn player was considered while making the decision. The Nets and Nash agreed to a mutual parting after a disappointing 2-5 start.
ESPN also reported that Brooklyn is expected to hire suspended Boston Celtics head coach Ime Udoka to replace Nash. Probably when Steve was being sacked both Kyrie and Kevin were fast asleep. Currently, Jacque Vaughn has been appointed as the team’s interim coach. The Nets organization hiring Udoka just months after Boston suspended him will undoubtedly raise many eyebrows.
The Nets fans seemed to be pretty happy with coach Steve leaving. There were many mixed reactions on social media. If Udoka is hired for the coaching role, everyone will expect him to do some courageous work as he has done for the Boston Celtics.
