NBA Executive confirms Lakers’ interests in Russell Westbrook trade packages still exist
The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly still interested in finding trade packages involving Russell Westbrook despite his consistent performances coming off the bench.

Since Russel Westbrook moved to Los Angeles, there hasn’t been a single day when Los Angeles Lakers fans haven’t spoken about him. However, since the beginning of the previous season, the trade and replacement of the former MVP have been the only topics of conversation.
Russel Westbrook trade ideas, packages, and what other teams are interested in sending for the Lakers star have all been discussed this year as well. However, as soon as the Lakers refused to give up future round picks, the talks collapsed.
Prior to the trade deadline for this season, the Los Angeles Lakers are still discussing Russell Westbrook moves, a Western Conference executive told Heavy.com’s, Sean Deveney.“During Deveney’s discussion with the Western Conference executive, some additional trade options for Westbrook were discussed, with the onus being on taking back longer-term contracts to sweeten any potential deal,” Heavy.com’s Adam Taylor wrote.
At the end of the 2022–23 season, Westbrook’s contract expires, but it is still worth more than $47 million. While shooting 42.1 percent from the field and 29.1 percent from outside the arc this season, Westbrook averages 15.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 7.8 assists per game.

In the LA Lakers’ victory over the Houston Rockets on Monday, Russell Westbrook gave an explanation for his heated argument with the assistant coaches. Before halftime, Westbrook was seen on camera speaking with LeBron James and assistant coach Phil Handy.
Westbrook reportedly told the coaches they need to improve during the broadcast, according to NBA TV’s Jared Greenberg. in the locker room, James and Handy cleared things out.“There was an interesting scene as the Lakers headed to the locker room at the end of the first half with the lead,” Greenberg said and continued, “Everybody pretty optimistic, happy with things, and then it was Russell Westbrook telling his coaches that they have to be better, repeatedly.”
Reporters questioned Russell Westbrook about the incident during the post-game conference. The former MVP emphasized that it was merely a routine talk, but he recognized how some people may interpret it differently. He kept his conversation with the coaching staff a secret. “Honestly, just a conversation,” Westbrook said. “I didn’t get into it with anybody. Obviously, people are going to perceive how they want to, but just voicing my opinion and that was it,” claimed the former MVP.
