Dillon Brooks and the Memphis Grizzlies have a lot to be proud of this summer after exceeding expectations in the 2021–22 season. Nevertheless, it might be challenging to avoid fan trolls. For Brooks, he discovered that for himself on Monday when a fan made an odd request of him at the airport.

The Grizzlies signed Brooks to his rookie scale contract on July 21, 2017. Brooks scored 19 points in the Grizzlies’ season opener on October 18, 2017, setting a record for an NBA rookie who is Canadian-born.
In a 104-101 defeat against the Sacramento Kings on February 28, 2020, Dillon Brooks recorded a season-high 32 points, two rebounds, one assist, and one block. On May 23, 2021, Brooks made his NBA playoff debut. He scored a season-high 31 points and pulled down 7 rebounds to help the Grizzlies defeat the top-seeded Utah Jazz 112-109 in Game 1.
The Grizzlies would ultimately lose the series in five games and be eliminated. The fracture in Brooks’ left hand will keep him out for two to three weeks, it was revealed on October 12, 2021. He had a career-high 37 points on December 19 against the Portland Trail Blazers, but they lost 105-100.

The Grizzlies didn’t lose anyone important this summer, but they also failed to make any notable additions, and the development of their young core alone is unlikely to carry them to a finals appearance. Really, it will be up to Ja Morant and Dillon Brooks to make or break this next season for Memphis.
