Kyrie Irving has been the most trolled and criticized player throughout the season. As he decided to stay firm on his decision of not getting vaccinated. Due to his decision of staying unvaccinated, he was ruled out from playing basketball in the league due to New York City’s vaccine mandate. But the Brooklyn Nets due to a losing record and injuries around other players decided to bring him back as a part-time player who will be allowed to play at away games as Barclays Center restricted him. But after some months the vaccine mandate was lifted up and he was back as a full-time player in action for the team and suited up with his mate Kevin Durant as James Harden left for the Philadelphia 76ers blaming Kyrie Irving and Steve Nash’s system.
The Brooklyn Nets had a horrible stretch in the regular season as they missed their stars like Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant. These eventually landed them in the Play-in tournament which they won and got themself a spot in the playoffs. But the postseason experience this year for the Brooklyn Nets wasn’t good. As they were facing and going all in and against of the Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown led Boston Celtics who were out for revenge as they swept the Nets and advanced with 4-0. This sweep just added onto the criticism Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving were getting throughout the season and they also deserved some of it. As they didn’t lived up to the expectations the fans and the franchise had around them.
Kyrie Irving is blamed by many around the league for the terrible season the Brooklyn Nets had as they believe it all comes down to him not getting vaccinated. A clip of Irving appearing at “The ETCs with Kevin Durant” podcast is viral on the internet and has the fans criticizing and trolling him as he called himself a Martyr for not being able to play when he was ruled out for being unvaccinated.
