“Soft officials are ruining the game” Fans DISGUSTED at referees for issuing a technical foul on Darius Garland after nailing a buzzer-beater

Darius Garland

On the scoreboard Sunday night, All-Star point guard Darius Garland was putting up points but in the middle of the game, he got a surprise. Garland handed the ball to Rudy Gobert after making a buzzer-beater shot to close the second quarter where he was given a technical foul call immediately which the supporters felt that it was unfair.

Darius Garland was inactive for five games after the season opener because of getting accidentally stabbed in the eye. The Cavs have gone 5-0 without Garland, who has been sitting on Cleveland’s bench during his absence from the court, despite the 22-year-efforts old’s to make a comeback.

Garland almost pulled off the unimaginable last night scoring a career-high in points while nearly single-handedly leading the Cavaliers to their most unlikely victory over the Timberwolves, but it wasn’t enough to stop the team’s downward trend. Garland got engaged in a strange incident during the game that nobody could believe.

After a disappointing opening 24 minutes, the Cavaliers trailed by 20 points after the first quarter and by double digits at halftime. Darius Garland made a buzzer-beating three-pointer from almost half-court in the final seconds of the second quarter and the enthusiasm at the break for halftime was quickly shattered.

After releasing his shot, he kept running and when he caught the ball as it went through the basket and threw it to Minnesota’s Rudy Gobert, he was called for a technical foul. The Cavaliers point guard continued into the locker room without turning around.

Darius Garland’s 51 points were not enough for the Cavs to get past the Timberwolves

The Cleveland Cavaliers were defeated by the Minnesota Timberwolves 129-124 despite trailing 99-75 late in the third quarter and trying to attempt a comeback. Darius Garland scored a career-high 51 points, 27 of which came in the fourth quarter and made a career-high 10 3-pointers. The injured All-Stars Donovan Mitchell and Jarrett Allen did not play for Cleveland, who suffered its fourth straight defeat. Lamar Stevens contributed 15 points to the Cavaliers’ total followed by Cedi Osman’s 14 off the bench, Kevin Love’s 14, and Caris LeVert’s 13.

The Timberwolves were able to hold off Garland’s attack thanks to Karl-Anthony Towns’ 29 points and 12 rebounds and D’Angelo Russell’s 30 points and 12 assists, a season-high for both players. Minnesota ended a three-game losing run thanks to Russell’s 11 of 13 field goal attempts, including 4 of 5 three-pointers and Towns’ 13 rebounds. Off the bench, Prince scored 19 points and Rudy Gobert chipped in with 15 points and 12 rebounds. D’Angelo Russell scored 17 first-half points to help the Timberwolves gain an early advantage and the Cavaliers didn’t seem to have a counterpunch for him.

The Cavaliers entered the game shorthanded and were without any of their key players, who were all sidelined due to injuries. Their unavailability caused the focus to shift to the Cavaliers’ bench and increased Garland’s scoring burden. In the end, it’s another defeat and hardly the welcome home the Cavaliers hoped for following a disheartening road trip that included three heartbreaking late-game troubles.
