NBA Legend Magic Johnson has been trending on Twitter after his recent tweet. The former LA Lakers player had to clarify that he was not in any blood donation camp after a social media page claimed that the legend had donated blood to Red Cross.

Magic Johnson, the former Los Angeles Lakers star was diagnosed with HIV in 1991. Since then, the player has been the butt of several jokes regarding his health and how he survived the deadly disease. Today, after almost three decades, Earvin is still trolled and several memes are made on the internet regarding his health. Recently an image circulating the internet falsely claimed that the player was seen in a blood donation camp.

A Sports parody page by the name of “C*ck Sources” fooled several into believing that they were a legitimate source of news with their meme of the player. The page deleted its post after it caught the eyes of the mainstream public once Magic responded to their false claims and clarified his status on blood donation. In the original post, the page wrote, “Earlier today, NBA legend Magic Johnson donated some of his blood to the Red Cross to help underprivileged communities help fight COVID-19,” with a photoshopped image of Earvin Johnson himself.

As many are already aware, patients with HIV are not advised to donate blood. After several people shared this post from the meme page, Magic believed it was only right he stepped in and clarify the rumor that was circulating. I’m aware of the false story circling the internet, and to be clear, I have never donated blood,” wrote the player in one of his latest tweets.

Fans could not believe that a legend like Magic took the bait posted by the parody page and had to address something like this. People unaware of the player misinterpreted the player’s statement and were puzzled as to why the Twitter user with over 5 million followers was “bragging” about not donating blood.
