“Wow Anthony Davis blew it” – Fans left disappointed as Anthony Davis, who replicated Kobe Bryant’s success, misses game-winning FT against Sixers
Anthony Davis
Anthony Davis is back in the NBA headlines but unfortunately the reason this time isn’t pleasing and is very disappointing for the Lakers fans. As AD is on the heated discussion table for missing a necessary free throw which could have registered a dub for the Hollywood-based team against the Philadelphia 76ers. Anthony Davis almost ran a comeback with the Lakers and carried the team throughout. But almost running a comeback isn’t enough to win a game.
Recently, the Philadelphia 76ers hosted the Los Angeles Lakers at Wells Fargo Center. Joel Embiid single-handedly destroyed the Lakers in the first quarter himself by dropping 20 points and closing it on 31-20. But after the first quarter, Anthony Davis took over the Lakers and started answering back. He led the offensive end while playing some awesome defense. But the Sixers wrapped it up in OT at 133-122.
In the game, Joel Embiid dropped 38 points, 5 assists and 12 rebounds. James Harden supported him with 28 points, 12 assists and 4 rebounds. Even De’Anthony Melton contributed with 33 points as he was out there shooting like Stephen Curry. Even Anthony Davis did his job and dropped 31 points and 12 rebounds. While Austin Reaves and LeBron James backed him up with 25 and 23 points respectively.
The Los Angeles Lakers would have won the game in the regulation itself (game was tied at 120 points with AD on the foul line). But unfortunately, Anthony Davis who recently joined Kobe Bryant in an elite list missed a game-winning free throw and sold the game away. He still carried his team and pushed the game to Over-Time. But that missed free throw could have changed it all. And, the Lakers just disappeared in OT giving the game away.
Fans react to Anthony Davis missing game-winning Free Throw
Anthony Davis stole the inbound pass from Joel Embiid and ran a play with Russell Westbrook and tried to get the winning bucket. But he was fouled and sent on the line with 3.7 seconds remaining. There he drilled his first free throw. But went on to miss the second one which was very important and could have won the game for the Lakers. There are several reactions for that missed FT. You can find some of those here below:
The Los Angeles Lakers right now are ranked at the 13th spot with a record of 10 wins and 15 losses and have lost three straight games. Even though Anthony Davis is balling out and playing at an MVP level. His efforts aren’t still enough to get the Lakers across. If the team really wants to have a great year this season. They have to improve a lot and move some pieces or else it’s nothing but another terrible season for them.
