The James Harden and Joel Embiid-led Philadelphia 76ers were in search of blood after their blowout loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. They entered the court on Saturday to defeat the Utah Jazz needless to say it wasn’t going to be easy. The game couldn’t be decided until the very last second but it was the 76ers who emerged victorious in the end, thanks to Joel Embiid’s game-winner. After their latest victory, the 76ers hold the 4^th spot in the East and now are within striking distance of entering the top 3 positions.

Joel Embiid’s nearly 60-point performance helped the 76ers defeat the Jazz in South Philly earlier this season. The Sixers were the ones making the trip to see the Jazz in Utah on Saturday. This time, Sixers star guard James Harden was healthy and eligible to start for Philadelphia after the Sixers suffered a disappointing home loss to the Thunder on Thursday.

On Saturday night, Joel Embiid hit a jumper with 5.7 seconds left to help the Philadelphia 76ers defeat the Utah Jazz 118-117. James Harden led Philadelphia with 31 points and 11 assists. Tyrese Maxey totaled 21 points, while Shake Milton chipped in with 17. Harden dominated the fourth quarter, scoring 18 points and converting six field goals. He scored 16 straight points for the 76ers in a span of 3 12 minutes, preventing the Jazz from taking the lead until the final minutes of the third quarter.

Embiid ended the game with 30 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists. For Utah, Jordan Clarkson finished with 38 points and 9 rebounds. Off the bench, Talen Horton-Tucker added a season-high 20 points. Walker Kessler finished with 15 points and 12 rebounds, with Mike Conley contributing 14 points and eight assists. In the fourth quarter, Clarkson scored 17 points, which sparked a late comeback.

To register a dub and win it all in the final seconds the superstar duo went to work. As James Harden dished out an UNREAL behind-the-back pass to Joel Embiid. Can Joel Embiid potentially win the MVP award this season?

For the past two years, we have witnessed Nikola Jokic accepting the MVP award. Joel Embiid, who came in second place both of these years, had to grind as he observed the presentation of what might have been his prize. Embiid has climbed to the Top-5 on the most recent MVP ladder thanks to his season averages of 33.5 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 4.4 assists. An MVP award may not be too far away for the big man for the Sixers if he continues to help his team win and play as well as he has.

Unfortunately for Embiid, the Sixers’ collective performance has been hindered by a slew of injuries and the resulting poor team chemistry. Although there is still time for the club to gel, Philadelphia is currently operating at a disadvantage relative to its top Eastern Conference rivals.
