“Ref almost yanked bones out of frame” – Fans react to the ref trying to stop heated altercation between Jaylen Brown and Bones Hyland
Jaylen Brown and Bones Hyland involved in altercation
While heated altercations between players in the NBA are not rare, they rarely get funny. The one between Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown and Denver Nuggets guard Bones Hyland was one of those. Before diving into the detail, perhaps it’s important to know that Brown has a bigger and more massive physique as compared to Hyland. However, the highlight of the altercation was the ref who pulled Hyland out of the potential fight.
With Denver leading over the Celtics by 94-107 in the 4th quarter, Hyland was looking to score the ball while Jaylen Brown was seen defending Hyland on the top of the key. As the Denver star kept dribbling with the shot clock running down, Brown kept clapping, perhaps challenging Hyland to score the basket. However, still being defended by Brown, Bones was fouled, leaving Brown on the ground.
What appeared on the play, Brown pushed Bones while defending him which was called a foul by the refs. The 2nd year guard pushed Jaylen in return after the foul was called, provoking Brown to come face-to-face with him. Both the players were ready to get even with each other before the refs came and separated them.
Fans react as the ref pulls Bones Hyland from an altercation with Jaylen Brown
While Brown doesn’t have a massive physique, he is definitely more build-up than Hyland, who has a lean physique. Separating two players, what stood out was the fact that a referee pulled Bones out of the fight within a second with his one hand. Fans could not hold their amusement and one of them wrote, “Ref almost yanked bones out of frame ?.” Another fan wrote, “No other ref in history has been able to pull away a player like that.” Here are some of the fans’ reactions;
A bigger altercation would have resulted between both teams after Hyland and Brown squared up. But it was avoided by the officials’ quickness. Both the players were slapped with double technical fouls. Bones hit a crucial 3-pointer late in the quarter to deny the Celtics any hope of making a comeback in the game.
The Nuggets defeated the Celtics behind Nikola Jokic’s 30 points triple-double. Jokic scored 30 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, and dropped 12 dimes in the game. Hyland contributed with his 17 points, behind Gordon and Bruce Brown’s 18 and 21 points respectively. Brown led the Celtics in scoring; he scored 30 points for Boston followed by Jayson Tatum, who scored 25. Both the Celtics and Nuggets are top teams in their respective conferences.
