Kyle Kuzma has been a very controversial athletes with regards to his performance. Drafted in 2017, the player was selected as the 27 pick by the Los Angeles Lakers who were just a year fresh off the Kobe Bryant era. They were looking for a young scorer of the ball just like the Black Mamba had been for over two decades.
The 6″9 foot forward made an immediate showing of potential offensively averaging 16.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per game shooting 45% from the field. During his second year his scoring went up to 18.7 points per game and this was LeBron James‘ first season. In 2019, his productivity reduced below his career averages as he came off the bench for a good amount of games.

Anthony Davis’ arrival to the team affected the former champion’s role on the team. He went to averaging 12.8 points per game for two straight seasons. In 2021, he was swapped in a deal with the Washington Wizards that helped the purple and gold acquire Russell Westbrook for a one-year contract. Russ would put up 18.5 points per game which was exactly what Kyle Kuzma averaged as a starter.
It was obvious that the forwards skill had not depreciated but he was underused. He put up 17.1 points, 8.5 rebounds, and a career high 3.5 assists with the Wizards. He often calls out the Lakers for making a mistake trading him and pokes fun at LeBron. Recently, he participated in a Pro Amateur game which he recorded an unbelievable statistic line.

Kyle Kuzma bought in of the Amateur league games during the off-season. We saw his former teammate LeBron dominate the Drew League, and now he pulled it off as well. At the Utah Powder League, he dropped a staggering 66 points, 24 rebounds, and 9 assists including 11 steals and a record breaking 17 made three-pointers. Fans were completely astonished but still slammed him on Twitter.
