The game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics brought social media to a halt after the end of the regulation. LeBron James was fouled by Jayson Tatum on a potential game-winning layup, but officials did not call any foul on Tatum. The Lakers have been pretty unlucky this season when it comes to favorable calls from the officials in the game.

With four seconds remaining on the clock in the fourth quarter, James took an inbound pass from Dennis Schroder from a screen. After receiving a dribble-pass on top of the key, he drove to the basket and tried to make the layup. However, Tatum slapped LeBron’s shooting hand before the 4 x NBA champion could make the layup. When the Lakers star found there was no foul called on the play, he started to jump and begged for the foul. To his dismay, the officials paid no heed to his request.

It was one of those rare days when both Celtics and the Lakers fans agreed to something. After the game, the Pool Report said that crew chief Eric Lewis confirmed that the foul call in the last second was missed. “There was a contact, at the time, during the game, we did not see a foul. The crew missed the play,” the report cited Lewis

James scored game-high 41 points in an overtime loss, while leading the Celtics, Jaylen Brown scored 37 points. Brown also scored the last 11 of his points in the overtime to lead his team to win them. For most of the overtime, Laker players looked distraught and disinterested in the game. This was the Lakers’ 27th loss of the season and they continue to sit in the 13th spot in the conference. If they continue to lose games, it will be difficult for them to make it to the playoffs.
