“Grilled chicken with no seasoning” Former NBA Champ emphasizes why Russell Westbrook is a waste product with Lakers

Russell Westbrook is being targeted for the Los Angeles Lakers’ shortcomings over the last couple of weeks. The point guard is capable of being a league-leading All-Star caliber player but his presence on the LA roster seems pointless to fans and several experts who analyze his game. Quite a few individuals have advocated for the Lakers to “free” him.

Former NBA Champion Channing Frye is another one of those individuals who strongly believe that Brodie is being unnecessarily held onto despite having no purpose on a seemingly stacked roster. He said, “It’s just grilled chicken with no seasoning. The expectations are what does he do and how could he do it that will help this team affect winning? Nothing that he can do is what the Lakers need.”

Frye believes that the Lakers technically have all components they need in order to win but Westbrook is simply another superstar they are experimenting with terribly. With Russ being the starting point guard, Patrick Beverley’s otherwise impactful presence also comes to no use to an extent. Pat usually plays a starter’s minutes and makes a massive impact on defense.

The Lakers are on the lookout for potential candidates to trade Russell Westbrook

League sources have said that the Lakers have reconsidered trading the 9x All-Star player over the course of the regular season. At least for now, the Lakers have a little time on their hands to figure out a proper rotation and winning strategy. NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski claimed that the franchise will begin its hunt for potential packages at some point during the first half of the regular season.

Newly appointed Head Coach Darvin Ham is still hopeful about his current roster but says only time and patience will determine their future together. “We’ll get to the point where we know each other and it’s second nature the way we play basketball. That’s definitely the goal and it just takes time, just got to be willing to be patient,” he said following their loss to the Golden State Warriors on opening night.

The Lakers’ loss was a result of a high turnover rate. They recorded a total of 21 turnovers with 12 of them shared between the core members. LeBron James once again gave it his all finishing with 31 points, 14 rebounds, and 8 assists. He along with Anthony Davis has the ability to bring winning numbers even without Russell Westbrook as was proven during their title run in 2020.
