Former Slam Dunk Champion and NBA analyst Vince Carter hailed the recent success of the Brooklyn Nets. After the early slump in the season and being surrounded by every possible wrong news, the Brooklyn Nets have answered the call. Riding big behind their All-Star leader Kevin Durant, they have perhaps found their true identity.
Speaking on NBA on ESPN, former Toronto Raptors superstar Vince Carter told Malika Andrews that it was time, that people should give flowers to the Brooklyn Nets. Asked if the Nets’ winning streak is sustainable, Vince said, “It’s definitely sustainable if they stay and remain healthy.” He also added that the Nets have become a serious contender because they have figured out their role. “They have figured out how they wanna play post-honeymoon stage which is important, added Carter.
Carter further elaborated on the reasons behind the Nets’ success in the 2nd quarter of the season. According to Carter, the players on the Nets roster have finally understood their roles and identity. “The one thing that I like about what we are seeing about the Nets are…they are understanding who they are, who is the go-to guy.”

Speaking on the Brooklyn Nets‘ success, Cater also pointed out that a large part of the Nets’ success goes to their defensive effort on the board. The former NBA star also said that the Nets as a team have lately answered the call and have come together as a team on the defensive end. “On the defensive end they have made stride,” said Carter on ESPN.
According to Vince, the Nets have not only figured out their offensive game and have fallen in line with their role but also have responded defensively. “Everybody has fallen in line with their role on offensive end. Kevin Durant is 9th in the NBA in blocked shots, so everybody has responded and answered the call defensively,” he said.
After falling deep in the table the Brooklyn Nets are 4th in the Eastern Conference with a 20-12 record. Behind their leader Kevin Durant, who is averaging over 30 points in the season, they have recovered a lot. The Nets have won 11 of their last 12 games so far. They defeated Golden State Warriors with a massive win, while having a historical first half.
